Insurance and decat (Clive Forde Y Piece)
Discussion
Hi folks
Could I get opinions on how insurance companies view a couple of modifications I have had done via Jules and Kits & Classics?
Some very encouraging results from Jules' work on my Chimaera 500 which has had a 20am AFM, remap of original ECU, and Clive's lovely y piece. My insurance company is Classicline who are aware of the other mild modifications on the rebuilt engine by Rob at V8 Developments. Usual stealth cam, trumpets, head work, etc
It seems logical to tell them about the new modifications so the question is - What response have those with decat pipe received from their insurance companies when you have informed them?
Cheers
Phil

Thanks Anthony
That seems reassuring and I will give them a call as I need to confirm track day cover for a TVRCC novice track day at Blyton coming up soon. This will be my first planned outing on track with the TVR (Owned since 2006) so fingers crossed.
Yes your spec seems similar to mine - having followed the tread on dyno graphs that was a fascinating read.

I would make sure you give them a list of all the mods and tell them that you are improving efficiency. Tell them the car stock is 340 bhp and send them your result from Jools which no doubt is less than 340 bhp and it is likely they will just agree it. After all its no more powerful than what is insured as stock.
Good luck
