Adding rear speakers
Discussion
Hi all,
I was wondering what the best way to add rear speakers to my chimaera was? I have seen many where the speakers are added where the rear airflow ports are... is this a good idea? Does it make a significant difference to airflow?
Also, where is the best place to get this done professionally in the Surrey/Hampshire area?
I would also want my 6 disk changer fitted... once again comments on this would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Ant

Hi, the same chat has been on the Griff board as well a few times. From my recollection, the air flow is not compromised by putting the speakers into the port.
However it has also been suggested that it could be worth cutting a hole in the center of the back panel and remounting the air port, just to be safe.
I am looking at the same thing in my Griff at the moment, and will be doing a bit of messuring of depth. fuel tank clearance, and so forth tonight when I finish my chores.

antonyb,
Are you joining us on the Surrey Run this Sunday? Look at the General TVR Gossip page...
I had the air flow vents replaced with two lovely 6x9 speakers. There is a 'spacer' thing the stereo fitters have to fit to maintain proper cabin airflow (ooerr!)
If you are joining us, then you can see what has been done...I'm sure there will be other examples for you to look at, too
