roll bar fitting
Discussion
The roll bar below has come up on ebay, but the seller has not replied to my message.
If anyone recognises the roll bar type, what do the front longer legs mount on to?
From memory the seatbelt mounting bolts in that part of the car are at right angles to the bolts on the bottom of the legs shown in the photo, and the seatbelt bolts go out horizontally to the wheel arch through the vertical plate on the outriggers. Also the bolts though the triangular floor plate are vertical and go down through the floor of the car. I am struggling to figure out what the legs mount on to. Do anyone have any photos of that mounting point from a similar roll hoop.
I know where the rear shorter stays mount to.

I thought the same thing when I saw this advert. The fixing on that one doesn't align with anything I can find. Certainly not the lower seatbelt fixing as that is too far forward. It could be something to do with the inertia reel fixing but the orientation looks wrong
They normally bolt to the outrigger corner plate like this one.

Mine looks quite similar to the OP's photo, but is a RollCentre Racing one, which clamps in two places - the outer, forward legs clamp onto the angled rising chassis member in the front of the rear wheel arch, while the inner legs clamp onto the top of the diff cage at the rear of the chassis. Inside the car the hoop is behind the seats and perfectly placed for harnesses attaching to the outer legs.
If you want a roll hoop and want to see mine on the car, just give me a call or email, Jeremy.

That 'through' mount is a long way into the door opening. Also, grinding off the rear support bars and reattaching at a greater angle will change the hoop position & lower the hoop height so that it is close to the back of your head, perhaps dangerously close. I suspect the grinding and welding would also weaken the hoop too

I was not suggesting changing the hoop, but wondered if that how it was designed originally. There are currently two identical roll bars for sale on ebay. One seller says the bar was not actually bolted in when he got the car, and the other has not replied.
Not looking too hopeful that this is a viable solution.
Did you book this bar at a cheap enough price it may well be worth modifying and adapting.
The front mounting points or questionable and I can't imagine where they go and has no crossbracing. It may be deceptive but the size of the tube seems quite a small diameter.
If it were my head, I would go for one of the approved known quantities.

I sold my double hoop bar above because it bolted to the outrigger corner plate. Bolting anywhere on the outrigger means you have to give up the last couple of notches on the seat adjustment. Being a six footer means I need all that space
