1/4" pipe is used on clutch systems because a lot more fluid is moved compared to a braking system, smaller pipe =restriction=heavier operation.

As you are adding a servo that restriction will be way out weighed by the servo assistance. Piped mine in with 3/16" and braided flex.

Is there any delay in the clutch pedal returning if you release it quickly?

If there is a slight delay, my thoughts are that this will be improved by using the quarter inch pipe as original.

I need to bolt the seats in later today and then I will start the engine and try the clutch.

Unfortunately, I now haven't any room for the original windscreen washer bottle and so will have a look through eBay and source a smaller one.

Will it need a pump?

Worst case scenario, I will have to use one of these. Cheap enough.

Yes it will, how about this one rather than the colostomy bag? ..... Universal screenwash bottle

That is a good call. It only 1.2 L it must be quite a bit smaller and has a large neck to place the bendy TVR tube into.

I think I will order this one as it has the pump built-in. Thanks for that and the offer of your other bottle. smile

Indicator fitted and I will leave closing up the wing until I've tested it.

I will give you a ring shortly Anthony during my dog walking tea break!

And fitted a new washer bottle!

I put mine the other way round with the nose pointing forward and the bulb at the back next to the wheel arch. My water bottle fitted in its original location, tightly though and I also have an AC condenser and drier in the same part of the nose so surprised it didn't all fit in yours.

I also used 3/16 with braided hose but connected to the slave under the starter motor rather than through the top like you did Peter.

The reason was my car had been repaired and there was no hole in the wing between the nose and the clutch master cylinder area.

Still, have had it on there since last year and it works very nicely as long as you remember to not push the clutch before starting as it feels odd without the vacuum working.

After a while though you do get used to it and sometimes I wonder if it still is as light as it felt when I first fitted it.

E v e t u a l l y........... got to test the car with the servo fitted. Success, sort of.

Works perfectly but after a couple of gear changes I loose vacuum.

I have teed into the brake vacuum line but it seems that there isn't enough vacuum for both.

Trouble is my triple plenum base has only one take off.

I may have to remove it, drill and tap for another spigot, bugger!

richard i have been looking at using a diesel type alternator which has the vacuum pump on the back would be a neat solution as allways plenty of suck.

There’s a thought - mine always has plenty of suck, except when starting the car with my foot on the clutch, which I do as I always park the car in gear.......what handbrake?
Will the alternator solution give me suck quicker than the top of engine take off?

absolutely right peter is the man, and as to getting vacuum before starting the engine only way would be an electric pump as even with the alternator pump still needs to be rotating just that it would supply constant vacuum not dependant on the butterfly being shut or little opening to produce vacuum, seriously considering it for nicks blown chim as like yours now anthony as its turboed much less chance for vacuum to be produced as you are forcing air into the plenum.

Some cars used to have a vacuum reservoir to help with this. With a one-way valve you could store it when turned off and then have 'instant' vacuum, although it would probably seep away eventually.

I have got another takeoff on the plenum but it is only about three mm internal diameter.

I will have a fiddle about today and run a line directly to this and see if it creates enough vacuum otherwise it’s plenum off.

I like the alternator idea.

How could I find out which alternator to use that would fit?
