Indeed it does! Love the black and red combo. Works really well. I wish I had a garage like that to work in! Getting sick of shimmying about in my single en block hamster cage frown

Cheers gents, black & silver looks good too got the same on my 'S' wink

Regarding Bigredd, I got quoted £240 for all 4 calipers that's to rebuild them and the premium finish

Thank you ......................... hmmm seems they didn't want my business as that is a lot less than the near £400 they quoted me. As mentioned I bought a pair of brand new alloy AP Racing MG calipers and new discs for the front and got a pair of recons else where for the back.

Yours look to be a nice tidy job and the reason I phoned BigRed was due to favourable comments on the MG forums.
Jesus £400! That's ridiculous, can't blame you for buying new calipers instead. Must say they are a superb finish at £60 a caliper I can't complain (would of been cheaper if I went up with cash)

Project chimaera resumed after finding a broken lobe on the original camshaft then ordering one off ebay which was nothing like original then deciding on going with the 'MC1 camshaft kit' from v8 developments.. Now the engines back in, rocker covers & plenum sprayed up, bunch of red silicone hoses, stainless pipes from act & body going back on next week. Did i mention an absolute crap alarm system to replace too! Think i need Ted Di'biase's briefcase laugh

Looks like it is coming along nicely even if not as quick as you would like. That always seems to be the way though.
Cheers, yeah theres always something that crops up.. rolleyes as if the targa panel flying off down the motorway at 70 wasn't enough laugh

Still a few things to do cosmetically, mainly replacing the hood & putting new glass headlamp lense in, old one had a stone chip that had went right through!

Please put a cover of some sort over those exposed inlet ports and rocker shafts.
You no not want anything falling in as it will be the start of a very bad day.

Steve
cheers steve, think that was just for the picture, presume the mechanic has covered them back up or the rocker covers & plenum are back on now, had the pleasure of seeing a ferrari 328 come in next to my chim for an engine rebuild.

Looking good Steve....you've got some serious patience mate!
thanks Phil, i think id be a little less patient if i didn't have my TVR S to enjoy the weekend, be interesting to see the power difference with the chimaera tho. Still find myself looking at stainless manifolds lick.. Must resist the temptation

Well the body going back on has been held off for another week.. Bodged up body filler on the front end of the body shell inside.. Nothings ever straight forward with a TVR thats for sure, but on the plus.. Engines looking good!

Bostin Steve,

Any chance of a photo or two showing the return run of the fuel pipe to the tank before you put the body back on? Im assuming what I can see from your last piccy is the return pipe tied to the frame.

Cheers

Cheers lance, I'll be heading back up to the garage next week so will take a few snaps. This picture was one my mechanic sent me earlier on

Latest update.. so the manifolds came back from camcoat, went for the triple layer satin black must say im over the moon with the finish & customer service from them!

Everything being connected back up, silicone hoses on, cooling system, act air intake etc etc, Im told a few weeks & itll be ready for me to pickup now. Few delays along the way & parts that needed replacing but its 90% done

(Disclaimer, do ignore the dull swirl pot, one shall autosol the living life out of it when i go up to visit the car again!)

Cheers

WOW That really has come along nicely.
Well done. Looking stunning!
Q. What type of paint did you spray the engine, plenum, etc.. with?
Thanks, just got to spray the swirl pot silver & put the badges back on plenum & rocker covers & the engine bay is complete.

I'm pretty sure it was just leftover U-Pol raptor on the rocker covers & plenum & a vht paint for the engine, will find out what brand was used, same stuff as what's on my S (silver & black) none of its showing any sign of peeling off either so must be good stuff (I hope)

Been awhile since i updated this, had a long wait on new alarm & immobiliser, also the idle control valve needed replacing.. Nothings ever straight forward with these TVR's! One week to go & its ready to collect yes

@FoxTVR430 plenum was done in the leftover tintable u-pol raptor

You can tell there both mine by the 'bold' engine bays laugh

Looking bloody splendid Steve...almost there!
Thanks Phil, couldn't resist tarting up the engine bay whilst I was at it. The carpets need a good clean & the replacement hood still needs fitting. Hopefully smoother running with the mark Adams tornado chip in.

Important but minor details after all the hard work smile !

In all seriousness though what we would do if we had nothing to tinker with or improve on our cars....well driving it a bit more probably laugh

You know what though, no matter how reliable the tiv is, I still watch the gauges a bit too keenly, curse slow moving traffic and in the back of my mind still wonder if the journey will go without some sort of event happening. To be fair the vast majority of the time its fine but its still there. All that said no way would I trade for something else arguably more reliable, if you drive a TVR then man up or get a chest wig like the Griff boys.

They say three's a crowd but I was thinking now you have an S and a Chim all nicely sorted maybe a T or a C is in order (in green of course) thumbup
laugh I still do the same in the S, quick glance at the temperature gauge. Im all for an upgrade but dodnt overspend this time. Well they do encourage us about 'going green' dont they haha i think 2 TVR's are more than enough for my stress levels!

Thought id update this post, been awhile! Put the chim on hault.. & recently proceeded to get it all virtually finished. The new hood i won on ebay auction for £90!!!!! went on today, which now cleanses my memories of the old gaffa tape job from the previous owner laugh

Abit of british engine porn.. dont mind if i do biggrin

So yeah just waiting on 2 replacement gauges & jobs a good'n, one more back on the road.

Cheers

Looking good Steve! Worth the wait biggrin

It's been such a shame all this lovely TVR driving weather we've had recently and stuck inside on lockdown... typical! Still mustn't complain, people are facing much bigger problems than that frown
Cheers buddy, yeah its been finished at the most inconvenient time.. Just had to spend a fair bit on replacement gauges aswell!
