Motec pdm , no more relays, or fuses for engine control and fans
I like the look of that. Does that little box replace the whole fusebox?
So what is all the yellow behind your battery?

As OP, longevity of this installation is key factor,24 years on original TVR fuse box is ok by me, look at this as an alternative when original is U/S.

And with odessey battery behind passenger seat the installation should be easier.

Sorry disco p missed it but now I will reply. Don't really get that gismo, it can not do away with the fuse box. If it does fan control and few bits it's not exactly cheap. Just looking at the number of wires, it can not be doing many circuits .

Well of course this sort of kit from motec will never be cheap no one said it would. More of a case of what is possible and it doesn't need the fuse board or relays for the following, it's running fuel pump , ecu , ignition coil, starter motor , knock sense module, rad 1 fan, rad 2 fan , video recorder, water injection controller, water injection pump, and the mil light , still have a few spare outputs to use and will migrate the rest over time although the primary intention was engine controls

This can be done much cheaper. The other downside of this kit is that if/when it fails

I looked into PWM controllers a while ago when modwise didnt respond and found this US solution which I was very close to buying as it looked like it would interface easily.

I've run a number of different fan controller setups but in the end I simply fitted a Davies Craig DC-0444, this OEM quality kit comes with everything you need to complete a very neat and reliable installation all for just £48.00.

Available here...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/361083275551?_trksid=p20...

Unlike a PWM controller it doesn't ramp the fan speed but simply has a 10 second delay on the fan two circuit, all you need to do is set your preferred on temp and the controller does the rest, fan one chimes it at your predetermined on temp and 10 seconds later fan two is activated, this is a neat and simple way of eliminating any current spikes associated with both fans coming on simultaneously.

The controller automatically shuts fan one off once the temperature has dropped by 5C below your targeted set temperature, fan two goes off 3 seconds later so there's a delay-off to compliment the delay-on staged fan feature.

Even though my Canems engine management system offers the option to set fan on/off temps via the ECU I wasn't 100% happy with the way this was wired as the setup kept blowing one of the relays that were not particularly neatly screwed to the inner wing, fitting the Davies Craig DC-0444 fan controller made for a much neater installation as it's a controller and twin relay holder all in one OEM quality unit.

Here's how I fitted it to my Chimaera...

The controller circuitry is potted into the unit making it sealed and watertight, it's also twin fused for complete safety, each fuse is mounted in it's own neat waterproof fuse holder, finally the controller uses two standard 40amp relays so replacement relays can be sourced easily.

The Davies Craig DC-0444 fan controller is a simple, quality and user configurable solution to controlling two radiator fans in a staged way, it's also proving itself to be totally reliable. For £48.00 the controller is realistically priced so represents excellent value for money and has completely solved my annoying blowing relay issue.

Sometimes simple is better wink

The Davies Craig DC-0444 fan controller that you swear by seems to be missing a front cover, you best fit the cover on it ASAP
