Thanks Derek for tour hospitality
I felt a vit guilty eating your sausages .
Anyway I broke my record. ?
I second that and would just like to say a big thankyou to all the guys who brought there fantastic cars, serious st these things, yet such easy going boys who made it joyous and memorable weekend in the sun. I felt a vit guilty eating your sausages .

Our presence at the track, remember Derek is a British champion I think we made ourselves proud and when you get the odd knowing glance and smile off some petrol head with cars 5 times as loud and doing 160 mph you feel pretty darn good. Just the respect thing between strangers but somehow connected via massive V8's.
Steve is a bit of a diamond to say the least as is Andy and I really enjoyed everyone's company. Your all Rockstars to me
Today Derek's tyre's have left me with dislodged kidneys. Awesome but I still got wheel spin but instead of listening I kept instinctively coming off the gas, it's happening so fast and my brain is geared to ease throttle to neutral when wheelspin comes in so I just didn't program that in,, learnt a lot this weekend,, mainly to make sure it's in first gear.
I've got the torque if I can hook it up.
Times show I'm slow at the end. Small induction set up restricting Bhp a smidge, just over half a tank of gas, I'm well happy.
But embarrassed, it did only go backwards a couple of ft, ok maybe a yard or two, possibly three but knowmore
There well fast in reverse, good Brembo brakes still work well, oh god I'm off to go and ,,, well I won't say it.
The rain during the night washed my number off slightly so my best time there's no ticket but more my own fault for not getting it re applied. They gave me this at the Tower, very nice of them
I did more runs then I should have but a number were without burnouts so not a big deal.
I thought about it a bit today and made progress with how to get away better. Still wheelspin on almost every run after initial bite, it's harder than it looks that's for sure. Great fun though I think.
I made notes

I got my best time by letting the clutch go at 4k then feather the clutch slightly to get rid of the spin quickly ..I did more runs then I should have but a number were without burnouts so not a big deal.

What a brilliant weekend. I have not laughed so much, had tears rolling down my cheeks and stomach ache. Never thought Alun was backwards in coming forward and he proved me right.
Alun you are such a good sport, we took the piss so much.
However you got the results you deserved today 12.60. A big well done to you mate.
Don't encourage him Barry ffs lolAlun you are such a good sport, we took the piss so much.

For me Alun (classi) was the star of the show, as when he pulled up to the line and the lights went he'd selected reverse and shot backwards instead of launching forwards nearly running over a marshall! I laughed so much it hurt. Top man.
Was the burn out in reverse to, ha ha. It must have been hilarious but hey ho anybody could do it :-) Happy times. jojackson4 said:

The plenums getting ripped off, everything's being opened up, ports bigger than Dover A fine compliment like that from a very talented man like Barry young Peter
Is a compliment indeed.
We're there to watch and support each other which is actually what makes it all so great.
We had a couple of good races on Friday, buzzin
Im getting the lights now, see my reaction times,,,,,, be worried, be very worried.
Car looked fabulous Pete. Should have donned my Rainsports if nothing else FFS!
Get some tyre's and your off, way ahead.
It's true that 1/2 a second is like two car lengths at least, Daz was miles ahead of me, Peters taking his beading helmet off by the time I come by. The work that's done in garages at home are actually the fastest cars out there and the extra power us really impressive stuff.
Saying that Daz has a bionic race engine or something very special.
Where did he buy that twin air filter intake
I can't wait til we rock up and do it again.
Thanks to Frank for his good company, his son who's a natural and Neal, I was st scared of him, a car like that, you've got to be mad surely, and fk me he is, talent ousing of him, proper awesome weekend.
Can't wait for the next meet
I take it you used Derek's drag radials Alun?
How much improvement did they give?
When I used a set last September they shaved 2/10ths off my best with R1Rs. Then I snapped a stub axle!
Shame I couldn't stay for the Sunday but duties lay elsewhere...............that must have been a great day.
This must have been the best TVR turnout with 90% being chims waving the TVR banner.
You are so right Alun, so much development, upgrading and hard work done by the chim guys, (and Ian of course) pushing the boundaries of these old, lazy V8s that are more at home in a heavy 4x4 mud plugger.
Right, my excuses.
I need to retime my cam to move the power up the rev range. What seems mega on the road runs out of steam at 5K revs so I was changing gear at about 5.2K revs which is no good on the strip.
Second excuse, I can't believe how slow and heavy my gearchange is after it's full £700 rebuild.
Again, fine on the road but slow as hell on the strip where it counts!
My old 4.6, 75K T5 box was as slick as a fiesta box, not this one! In fact, driving my 99 Transit back on Saturday evening, I could have changed gear with one finger............ah well.
Till next time, September maybe?
Road tyres, 12.07 last September and 12.15 on Saturday, room for improvement!
