Technically they are 12.mm narrower wheels so wheel wise they are narrower but with that high 45 profile the sidewalls will kick in 6mm each side and once sitting on the ground the tyre width will look the same with a 7.5j or 8j width wheel.
The wheel width becomes an issue if trying to fit 25 or 30 % profiles as less sidewall to compensate for lack of wheel width but if you go the other way i.e. Start stretching a narrower tyre on a wider wheel width you get wider looking tyres for its smaller size.
I have a 215 45 17 fitted to a 8.5j wheel and it measures the same width as my 245 40 17 on a 8j wheel.
So in order to get correct clearance on wider wheels using factory arches you go smaller on tyre width to generate the required clearance with suspension and steering movement. Offsets are critical at this point though as only mm are left if a wheel tyre combo rubs or not.
My griff has loads of room on the rear using 8j width and a 245 40 17 tyre but if I went 9j wide I would fit a 235 or even a 225 45 tyre to make sure the tread stays within the arch and not cause any rub issues beyond the wheel arch

Just got this message back from the seller , any thoughts ?
these are not Chinese wheels or copy wheels, wheels are very high quality made in Taiwan, this is where world wide most famous brands are produced.
these are fully heat treated and custom machined to order giving you full spec options

Well I don't know about Taiwan being a major world source of alloy wheel production and some if not most of the Bola designs whilst not out and out copies of other wheels, are definitely heavily inspired by classic models from major players i.e. Work Equip, OZ Hartge/Carlsson, BBS RS etc etc. these are not Chinese wheels or copy wheels, wheels are very high quality made in Taiwan, this is where world wide most famous brands are produced.

On the flip side they would need to be CE if not TuV etc approved in order to sell in Europe which means they must be safe enough to use as a regular road wheel if not a full on performance track/race application.
,They already do 7.5 and 8.5 in 17s and will do 18s in a batch of 10.
Anyone interested ?
quite happy to do a batch if there was a group buy
we are manufacturing constantly on this wheel so no issue, if we got 10 sets you can choose spec and colour
we already have 7.5x17 and 8.5x17 in 4 hole if required

Very interesting as Bola don't list B7 17 x 8.5 on their website and that's the size I'm interested in for the Griff rear.Anyone interested ?

What size are you considering for a group buy??
Also its worth double checking the 18s can be machined for 4 studs as these two websites only list the 18s with 5 studs.

Well done for contacting Bola direct. And fair play that they will make a batch but could you explain that they are missing out on a lot of sales. Not just a 'group buy'.
My guess is that they aren't aware of TVR at all and the significance of the various sizes - and just knock this wheel design out in the same sizes their other styles.
It's silly that their off the shelf items aren't what would be the most likely to sell. 18" is THE one (I'm not even sure if original spiders are still being made) and that 4-bolt option would open up a lot of potential customers.

Im thinking more towards 17" front and rear. 7.5 and 8.5
I've asked the question on the dark side and this what I got.

Err.. They look like Spiders, are stronger and lighter.. What else do you need to know?
All I need to do is to decide id they suit the car
Any thoughts ?
