yes I held the lap record round Combe for GT cars in 2014 and 15. I dought the canoe will be much better than mid twenty's but he will learn more about track driving as you say in two 20 minute sessions than any amount of talking about it. shall we take bets as to whether he puts the hand brake on after he gets into the pits after a session. I had better tell him now ...........if you put your hand brake on after a session you could possibly weld your brake pads to your disc's. best just leave it in gear let the disc's cool down. I have not done a trackday in a good few years but plan on doing one in my rover car with peter high this summer probably late

If you two can bear a bit of competition from a 4.6 (er hem, cough) turbo, I'd love to come along too. Please.....

Already planned to put some brightly coloured tape around the handbrake as a reminder- I know not to apply it but whether I do it out of habit without thinking is a different matter..

I'm hoping I'm quite well set up- the comment about times was of course a joke, I'm not going to be timing and if I did I imagine the competitive streak in me would be quite distressed with the results. I've booked tuition with BHP, apparently there are instructors floating around on the day who you can collar as and when which I may also do- and due to the magic of PH I know there's going to be more experienced people around.

Beastie is in good health too and will get a thorough going over closer the date, we'll have to see how long my mechanical sympathy lasts on the day...

I saw that you'd entered the Challenge car in a series one of my mates is setting a car up for Perry, I'll have to come down to Combe with him when it's on and give you a wave!

Dave Allan trophy, that's the one. Race rather than a series, my mistake. smile

I had instruction from a senior geezer called Anthony last time there.....he got me out of the corners quite a bit faster and in better control of the car.

It was a shame I couldn't make the following race meeting....though I think your engine let go at that one? Doing fine, thanks, done a fair amount on the car over the winter, so trying to select quality rather than quantity track days this year to keep costs in check. How's the racing going?

Come and find us in the paddock say hello. There may be another Sagaris racing as well to keep me company, Darren Dowling's rapid LS7 both of us out for some fun. I need to get some track time in before the triple header at Combe with DTEC on 15th/16th July

Yes had an issue with a valve not staying where it should at Thruxton finished my season early. Carried on this year where I left off last sadley. So far two DNS ( Did not Start ) Drive shaft snapped in the Chevy on the warm up lap and the Rover Caught fire during Qually. Hopefully that is it now for the year. Needs to be, the Rover is going to SPA in June for the Summer Classic races that I do every year.

In an attempt to get the cars going round in circles I am at Sillystone next Saturday in " Future Classic's" with the Rover, then onto Combe for the Dave Allen in the Chevrolet so a busy weekend to come with loads of track time, both are 40 minute races. Fingers crossed it all goes well

Good luck. Contractually he is allowed to hide in the wardrobe of one room per week. Let's hope it's not you.

Looks like I am going to have to invest in a pair of trackday silencers, my last outing at snetterton I was 97db which only gives me a cushion of 3db, I have been told that castle Combe generally reads higher than a lot of tracks, has anyone on here got experience of noise testing there.
Thanks, Trev.

Glad someone mentioned the db issue at CC.

We ended up making a bespoke silencer for my brothers fireblade as CC is his local.

Enjoy it biggrin
