Jas you’ll have to bring the T350 so he has someone to break down with on a serious note, how is it? Still got the Chim?
Loving it Mike.... and considering the crappy weather I've managed 1300 very smiley miles. Had one little problem so far, wipers wouldn't work and kept blowing a fuse. I've got them working now and hopefully it was they were just a bit seized up.
Still got the Chim but it's getting very little use done about 300 miles since we did the Poole trip. Really not sure what to do but every time I go in the garage I just want to take the 350 out. Maybe things will change when the novelty wears off a bit which is why I'm not doing anything drastic at the moment.
Good news on the roof and see you and maybe Jay when the weather gives us a break.

It's a very nice conundrum to have Jas!
So... Who's feeling brave? It's rather nippy but we seem to be getting the odd day of glorious weather poking through recently. Try to pick a date?
I'm feeling brave! I just need to get my car to start first... So... Who's feeling brave? It's rather nippy but we seem to be getting the odd day of glorious weather poking through recently. Try to pick a date?
Going to have another look at it this afternoon, given the sun is out and I have a shiny new trolley jack to try out.
Oh dear, Dave - did you have any luck?
Yes I could well be tempted out of hibernation on a nice day
The planned works for the car over the winter aren't exactly going to plan - still to do:
Replace exhaust manifold gaskets
Remove ACT plenum, clean, refit with new gaskets
Remove rocker covers, repaint and refit with new gaskets
Repaint interior
Fit leather door card inserts
Fix/replace heater matrix as it just blows the fuse when turned on - not great in the cold!
Replace front discs/pads
Tidy up exterior paintwork
And that's all I can remember! Been a bit sidetracked with having an extension...
So it's possible I get round to doing some of these things but I'll try and make sure it's drivable if we do organise a date

Yeah funnily enough Mike popped round that afternoon, we poked about at it for a bit without actually changing anything, and it decided to start! I reckon the starter needs changing anyway as it's not cranking as fast as it should (despite a fully charged healthy battery) and it looks like it's seen better days, but I suspect the non-starting was a dodgy connection somewhere.
It's going for it's MOT next month so for what they cost I'll get a new starter beforehand and get them to swap it over (and check the connections) when it goes in for that.

Haha, that's happened to me a couple of times - car won't start...fiddle around with a few spark plug leads, wiggle the rats nest...can't see anything wrong...figure you may as well try again and bang! Straight into life. My starter had some slow cranking - I removed it and took it apart, was dry as a bone so greased all the parts and put it back together. Hey presto no more issues and it's been great since. Could be worth a go, it's only a couple of bolts and cables to remove.

Yeah that could be worth a go, the only problem is that the car lives outside (under a cover) so on the rare days that the weather is good enough to be crawling about underneath it, I am itching to be out driving it!My starter had some slow cranking - I removed it and took it apart, was dry as a bone so greased all the parts and put it back together. A small wooden garage is in the pipeline this summer so hopefully by next winter I can tackle these kinds of jobs 'outside of potential driving hours'.
Might give it a go though- are the bolts accessible from underneath with the front of the car on axle stands?

Haha fair enough! Garages do make life a bit easier for working on cars, that's for sure A small wooden garage is in the pipeline this summer so hopefully by next winter I can tackle these kinds of jobs 'outside of potential driving hours'.

Simple answer is yes they are - it can be a bit fiddly to get to the top bolt as you have to reach in blindly and locate the bit in the hole. I can't remember if they're hex or torx bits, but some long reaching bits/extension bars etc help.
Hopefully picking up my car from Neil Garner's tonight with a shiny (well hopefully oily) new camshaft fitted
Spoke to Mike yesterday and we wondered if anyone was about next Sunday (20th May) and fancied a meetup at a pub / drive about now that the sun looks like it's hanging around for a bit!
ETA: Jas - T350's more than welcome!

No worries chaps, the few of us that are available are still going to meet up this Sunday then we'll organise something with the rest of you guys for another day. At least with the weather being a bit more compliant now it shouldn't be too hard to sort something!
Jas - T350 looks superb, I'm still waiting a closer inspection! Have you still got the Chim?

Hope the weather holds for you and those that can make it and sorry I can't make it.Thanks for the compliment on the car, although my trip to Criccieth Wales ended up not so good as it came home on a flatbed. About 50 miles after leaving Criccieth I heard a loud chuffing type noise and thought Oh No and pulled over straight away,I was only doing 20-25 through a 30 zone when it happened. I've had it looked at today and the spark plug had worked it's way loose and was trying to escape.
Looks like I've been very lucky as it could of been far worse, looks like I just need 6 x plugs and some HT leads ( I still had a fantastic day. )
Still got the Chimaera although it's hardly getting any use, took it out yesterday for a drive and same today and loved it............ Catch up soon and have a great Sunday
