Sorry to read there's a few problems with cars going on,but as like any car it happens. Hope the issues are sorted.

Dave, I had a listen to your engine vids and when my manifold gasket blew I had a different sound, mine was more of a rattle noise, few people thought at first it was the cam. Unfortunately I didn't take a recording, but it doesn't sound like yours does. I had one bolt that wouldn't come out and they had to lift the engine out, they apparently tried everything.

As for the Sunday 5th I'm pretty sure that's ok for me,but I'm pretty sure Trevor will be on holiday, not sure about our mate Frank.

Mike,
Not sure if you're up for it again this year but Poole Quay is Friday 17th August which I'm going to with Trevor and another mate Stu and another possible.

Thanks for posting Frank and coming up with the idea. thumbup

I'm at the Belgian GP that weekend. Damn all this motor racing malarkey interfering with my pub schedule hehe

I'll get back to you re Poole Quay Jas, well up for it if I'm free and the car is in good health (the big if)- of course I think it's an open invitation to anyone on this group who would be up for making the trip, it's a great little event smile

Mike, Yes Indeedy it is open to all and sorry for not stating this, but I appreciate that it's not easy for people being on a Friday.
But if anyone can juggle the day for a nice drive down to the lovely coastal seaside town of Poole ( I sound like Poole's tourist information board) then the more the merrier.

I'm not very good at forward planning but as far as I know the 26th August is ok for me,other than it's the MotoGP at Silverstone. I'm not going, but I love to follow and watch via the many free live streams channels.
Was just giving you a heads up Mike and hope you can make it. Sounds like our little group of cars are having a bad month,I'll speak with you over the phone about it and sorry Frank for derailing your topic.

Only just saw this! I managed to pressure test the exhaust system yesterday, and whilst I do have an air leak, it's actually coming from one of the joins where the header attaches to the Y-piece. I did tighten up the clamp a bit but it just looks like it isn't seated properly.

Either way, it's not what is causing the noise. No apparent leaks anywhere else on the manifolds/gaskets.

Going back to them on Saturday 11th so hopefully should be all sorted by the 26th!

I'm 50/50 for the 26th as I might have another commitment, although not yet confirmed.

Will update when I know either way!

I'm pretty easy - I was thinking somewhere Banbury-way possibly?

Anyone else got any suggestions?

Not going to able to make this date now.
I've booked in for the " Blenheim Palace Festival of Transport" on the Monday 27th and don't really fancy doing a similar distance and route back to back.
Also I did 300 miles + on Friday attending the "Poole Quay for my cars " event. (Sorry again Mike)
Hope you get a good turn out.

I think I'm going to have to cancel Sunday unfortunately- still not happy with the sound the car is making and I don't want to risk anything with a longish drive until I can get to the bottom of it. I've spoken to another specialist who are going to take a look after the bank holiday, but I don't think anything is going to be sorted without another complete strip down frown

I am going to console myself by starting the ground prep for my garage. And stocking up on baked beans, as I think that's all I am going to afford to eat for the next few months...

I feel your pain Dave! As you say, best to get it sorted out rather than risk doing damage. I've still to find out what is causing my low oil pressure, but Powers have been able to get onto my car now and I should hopefully find out what the problem is in the next week or so. We'll get an Autumn meet sorted biggrin
