Aftermarket ECUs
Discussion
Thought I would give a final update to this thread, firstly I would like to thank Mat Smith and James for their sterling work with the Emerald install a really neat job with all new braided wiring.
I didn't really know what to expect from the install apart from hoping for better reliability but I have to say the difference is unbelievable the car is now so smooth and responsive with zero shunting you can go from tickover in fifth gear and smoothly excelerate up to top speed.
There were no hp gains but the car certainly feels much quicker, I am sure that you get the same results with the other after market ECU's as long as they are properly installed and set up but I like the option of being able to have a little play and it is a easy system to use with manuals to download from emerald to help you.
Yes it is quite expensive to do but for me it was worth every penny.

Great stuff.
Like you say ultimate hp doesn’t change much but you seem to have far more power where and when you need it.
So in essence it has lots more power.
The car becomes something of a time machine, it’s clearly still very much an old Tvr ( which is great) but has this new hyper brain so becomes like a new car in how it drives and behaves.
It’s a very expensive business but I’ve seen my car in many bits when mine was being done, ok it’s just a harness swap and bits and bobs but a lot of work including mapping sessions etc
I wouldn’t say there’s a big profit in it considering the knowledge required to do this sort of work.
I recognise the difference in my car every time I drive it and always count my brain cells for getting it done when I had the spare cash.
It’s like the engine loves it and rewards you for it all the time,,, brilliant

Well, have bitten the bullet and booked my Griff in for Powers MBE in a month or so.
Nothing wrong with the standard system at the moment, save for a bit of low speed run on/shunt and sometimes the idle valve playing silly buggers.
I'm converted to the idea, sure it will be smoother and more predictable.
Going to go for two jet injectors to replace the standard 500 ones also at extra cost.
Thought about going for the extra expensive injectors which must mist even better and have better low throttle characteristics, but they are £95 per injector vs £40, so have decided not to.
I was tempted to fit Omex myself, something I've done before on another car, but I think that the quality of the loom and neat installation of the Powers solution looks to be the best, particularly if I want to ever sell the car on, it will be a known quantity, and quite a few seem to be converted.
Then going to keep all of the 14CUX stuff in a box in case someone wanted to revert to standard.

2 1/2 years faultless running here too.
Well worth it for the loom alone.
Mbe make looms for boats which is about as bad as it gets for environmental conditions to operate in so stands you in good stead as does the fact it’s type approved.
It seems to manage these engines like clockwork I know that
