Check the exhaust manifold to chassis gap on the O/S because the gap on that N/S looks excessive as in large which means the other side must be marginal scratchchin this can cause banging over bumps as the engine flexes downwards in the cradle (common) , also the small end of that steering rack gaiter looks insecure so the gaiter slides up and down the tie-rod/track rod arm shortening its lifespan even further frown

I'll certainly test this. I did buy from Powers who insisted it was the correct type. It did fit without an issue (I've heard of people having to grind away bits to get some ones to fit) so perhaps it's just the photos, but I will check it anyway.

Now in possession of some protech shocks so will be getting those fitted...

Alun - you weren't joking about the bottom bolt on the fronts - fk me!
1/16th turn stop, 1/16 stop. Patience is a virtue.

The top ball joints( but not normally Powers ) ones can fowl on the wishbone edges. Imagine wanting more camber, loosen two upper ball joint bolts and push ball joint in towards cars centre line, it will stop when the ball of the joint hits the wishbone edges. You sometimes grind that part of the casting to allow you to push it further in thus creating more camber.

That might help the rubbing at the top of the wheel arch but that can't really be the problem. ( I don't like the idea of grinding the ball joints personally. Mine will go in far enough to get a negative camber without the need for that grinding. .
Plenty of grease Garr thumbup

ETA I've just got what you mean, spread the lugs open. Not easy, I have a solid steel block that sits on the inner bit well, one whack with a big hammer opens them just a mm or so and the bushes drop in.

Just had a look - both sides seem to have the same gap. Perhaps the angle of that photos makes it look different. But doesn't look like there's any issue with potential banging there.

Noticed the steering gaiter this morning actually whilst working on it - I seem to remember it was unclipped during the tracking, that was only a few weeks ago. I've now secured it.
