An update for those who might not know:-

Well the 430 is still safely tucked up in a warm storage facility in the UK where she was moved to from X Works workshop. My barn conversion here hit some unexpected snags and still has no roof. When removing the old roof it was noticed that both stone walls lean the same way so adding a new heavier roof on top may have toppled it. So major works are being done to make sure this does not happen which has required steel reinforcing and the addition of steel reinforces buttresses. The roofing timbers are far heavier than I was expecting but is has been explained to me that this is to cope with snow loading and they have a figure they work to which accounts for this. As we are now well into winter work has slowed to a stop at times and this was all supposed to have been finished by October and of course the costs have escalated way beyond the original plans. The new roof measures some 200 m2 so it's not small the main enclosed barn is 9.5m x 4m inside with 3.4m to the cross beams. There is enough space to have a ramp installed so that a vehicle raised plenty high enough to get under it standing erect that the roof of the vehicle goes between the cross beams. That is assuming there is enough left to buy a ramp after the increased costs.

The steel post is vertical so you can see how much the stone wall leans. The shoring up is not complete yet with some more steel to inside and 4 buttresses on the outside wall. The steel inside will connect with the new reinforced concrete "ring beam" around the top of the walls thus tieing it all together.

Although the roof is one the second open fronted "barn" is 8.7m x 5m as the entrance to the property is through this outer stone wall between the two barns. Odd though this may seems it's a common feature here. A vestibule so thee will be double doors to the enclosed barn as you come in and a wall with normal door in it on you left separating the open fronted barns on your left. This old open fronted one will be closed in at the front with timber cladding with a double door at the end near the gateway to the yard. The floors are reinforced concrete 20-30cm thick which will be sealed and painted. The photo should give some idea of what I was trying to explain. The yard itself needs attention to it's surface. Teleporters are not kind to gravel drives!!! and there will be another visit by one to get the tiles up onto the roof as the builder does not fancy heaving over 2500 of them up by arm power.

The Chimaera will have a secure home protected from the elements and there will be space and facilities for maintenance. The plan now is to come and collect here once the weather improves and the storage here is finished. Ahhh yes before we collect the 430 we need to get a second key and fob sorted out as there seems to be only one which is odd considering she had a new alarm fitted!
