Hi chaps,

I have had my car off the road while I replace the outriggers (no fun in a single garage with the car on axle stands I can tell you!)
But they are on now an look lovely...
When I have buttoned the car back up and reconnected the battery/alternator etc and fired the car up, its sitting at 2000rpm when at idle.
Any Ideas greatly appreciated......its going for its MOT the morrow!

Cheers

Have you got RoverGauge set up?

If you've been working around the engine bay could be an air leak/vacuum leak.

I would check the stepper motor.

Otherwise I had a similar problem when I cleaned the MAF and didn't give it enough time to 'dry off' before starting, but not as high as 2k.

My 2p worth

Could be as simple as the stepper being stuck in its cold start position. Try clamping the black air feed tube to the stepper shut and see if the idle drops to something reasonable- this will discount air leaks if it does.

Thanks for the pointers lads!
The stepper motor is indeed stuck and won't move.
Where is the best place to procure?

I bought a £13 one off ebay in 2014. Ended up spending £90 to get a genuine Lucas one because the idle was all over the pace with the cheap one. Some people have hit lucky with a cheap copy but I didn't.

I did buy one of the Britcar ones above about 5 months ago and it was fine, and identical to the OEM one.

Ordered the Britcar stepper. Let you know how it goes!
