Thanks for the info/pic on the sump...I'll have to drop it when I get a chance. Probably in the Spring.

How long before you'll be wanting a 500, Mike? biggrin
I'm in two minds about this track day malarkey...would be quite interesting to give mine some beans without worrying about the speedo going into silly territory... scratchchin
Like the Nike ad used to say, Just Do It biggrin

You'll discover more about the car than you ever will on the road. And that includes you the driver too.. just don't be too despondent when the MX5's do you in the twisties wink

I can't start thinking like that Gareth, where does it end? laugh I quite like mine for taking on track as it's scruffy but there's not much more power to be had without spending serious money so I've repressed such thoughts smash

Unfortunately Chilli is right, the first one is a very ego dampening experience.. even my humble 400 was seeing others off on the straights but it didn't stop me getting blitzed by everything over the course of a lap (so don't think that all that extra power will save you!) laugh

Dave has been making noises about getting all the cars together again so you'll have to come along and I can talk you into it tongue out I'd imagine Abingdon would be fairly convenient for you to get to (just off the M40/A34) and I think it's about perfect for your first time, pretty much fool proof but still great fun! Cheaper than circuits as well biggrin

Haha fair enough! Guess I'll just have to build up enough of a lead on the straights then...challenge accepted biggrin

Definitely up for another meet up - assume (hope) we're talking once it gets a bit warmer...mine will be off the road for a bit anyway as I do some maintenance on the exhaust manifold bolts etc.
And yes Abingdon is very well located for me as it goes scratchchin

I got an answer back from Rockingham re skid pan.
£150 for a full morning which would be more than enough or if you do the corresponding trackday free it think!
I better check!

I reckon that’s where it’s at, easy on the car hopefully and all crossed up, slow but meaningful and living on the edge,,,, although the tarmac area they water didn’t look very big to me so it will be fairly slow, which is good really, hopefully it’s big enough to do reasonably large circles in a drift. Satisfy I need in me biggrin

Get yourselves down to Abingdon boys, I'm sure we can sort a date to suit everyone smile

Once it warms up because Gareth doesn't like the cold laugh

Just beware when trotting off down the road of modifying your normal road for very occasional track use.

A good road car makes a poor track car, a good track car makes a poor road car.

That statement holds true with very few exceptions. smile

Sound advice. Have a good think about how you intend to use the car going forward before going mad modifying. I have done quite a few mods to mine but it is still 95% of the time a road car. Baffled sump, bigger brakes I have added to mine primarily for the track but do not compromise it on the road. The suspension I have gone for OEM Bilstiens which are designed for road but are actually not too bad on track. Yes I could get track suspension but I still want to enjoy it on the road.

I run 400/450 springs on mine which are still reasonably good on the road and recently good on the track but they could really do with being upgraded for the track but that would give the car a reduced appeal for the road.

Far more simple than that. Not a company, a very well heeled elderly couple whom Mrs phazed specialed, both dialled out within a few weeks of each other. frown
