The perfect answer on stock/Lucas distributor is the Bosch 0221122392 but they seem to be impossible to find.

There are therefore a few other options, but worth looking at the official TVR suppliers as a start point (TVRSSW, Racetech, Motaclan), but there is plenty of doubt on how long these coils last. Thankfully they're not horribly expensive.

I've also seen some chat about the Viper dry ignition coils being worthy of exploration.

Then I saw your other post on finding the fuse board and a new ECU - you might have electronic ignition as part of that change, in which case I believe you won't have a coil in the traditional form...?
Look for coil packs instead - you will know them by the spark plug leads coming from them

Hey Pablo - well now that my car is running so much better, I'm wondering if I actually need to shell out £2k for a new ECU .... But then my existing kit is original, so in order to shore up the reliability, it might be worth doing?

A quick search brought up this: https://www.mlperformance.co.uk/products/bosch-ign...

Ignore me, I was getting my wires (and people) crossed!
You don't have an aftermarket ECU!

That link is a good price, though it says 'ETA to be confirmed' which seems to be the state of play. Feels like we'll be on a journey of 'which coil is best' until Bosch get some production numbers up again (hopefully they will, since this coil is relevant to lots of cars)

The next big spend for me would definitely be a new ECU and loom, but equally, mine is running 99% very well, so I'm in no rush.

If it ain't broke and all that.
When it's running well there isn't much wrong with the standard set up tbh.
Keep the money for fuel.

haha, fair point!!

I contacted Bosch, and they came back with "the Bosch ignition coil is currently on back order with unclear lead times frown"

So, if you're desperate for a new coil, the one I picked up last year is a new Lucas RTC5628, I got it from Dingocroft in High Wycombe for £35 about a year ago. I only installed yesterday it to see if it improves a very intermittent grumbly rev dropping issue, so can't report on performance, but my Bosch is now almost ten years old (the resistance reads exactly as it should, but I don't know that that is a way to check the condition of it). Kept it for a spare anyway.
