Rear flexi brake hoses

Hi guys, I am after a pair of rear braided SS flexi brake hoses to the drums made up for me. I am after ones to replace my existing ones but 1" longer with SS ends. Been quoted about £100 for the pair. Do they really cost that much now days?
1971 Vixen 2500.
Any recommendations welcome. I am near Nottingham.

This ^^^
HEL will make them to any spec; you just tell them the ends, the length and the colour (they are much easier to keep clean with a plastic coating).

£100 probably not far out, the stainless end fittings are very expensive.

Not sure what fitting the OP needs, but guessing at male 3/8 UNF, seen them at about £8 each, a metre of -3 can't be a tenner?, so say £40 in materials if you were making them yourself...

With Plated fittings...
That said.. nowt wrong with plated fittings.. you can get cheaper non Goodrich stainless on the web a good bit cheaper..
Its dead easy to make up your own.

First you need to measure and identify the threads of the fittings you need and the length of pipe you require. If you call the very helpful people at HEL Performance* (as I suggested earlier), they will be able to supply your every need, be it ready assembled (preferable, as you clearly haven't done this sort of thing before) or as individual components.
*other hose manufacturers are available e.g. Goodrich, Pearls, Torques...

Send old hose to Stevsons so they have correct threads and label tied on with length required.


looking at your photo, I'd have expected one end to have a longer thread? Short end into wheel cylinder but a longer thread to go through a bracket, nut, then rigid brake pipe screwed on?

More like this, or is that some sort of adaptor on the left side end of yours?.................

Yes, just like yours I want, but black braided ones. Where you get them from? No idea why mine are like they are. But I got my old ones from good ridge so bit reluctant to order from them again. Sorry to keep going on about this.

That is just an image I found on Google to show the different ends.

All my hoses are the "normal" silver finish, don't know if Stevsons can do colours, I think HEL do?

Local hydraulic place might be able to do them, my experience of HEL is that they are Hell to deal with and take ages
