This arrived yesterday.

https://www.simtekuk.co.uk/product.php/vacuum_pump...

All inclusive for the lazy! Saves sourcing all those separate parts and matching up. Comes with everything you need, one-way valve harness et cetera et cetera.

Hopefully will have a chance this afternoon to fit, if not I will do it on Friday.

Thanks - very useful.

I had heard of people using a Ford part but this looks good too.

Hi Peter

What cam and inlets are you running on the 5.5 ?

I'm on TB's with an M256 and have tapped 4 of the inlets for the brake servo feed but really have no idea if its enough for the brakes until I get it one the road.

H404 cam
45mm trumpet base as part of the triple plenum setup and a ported inlet manifold.

The cam is not too wild but maybe the triple allows the inlet pressure to drop too low
at mid to full throttle compared with the 72mm single throttle plate.

For comparison - I ran a M248 cam with ported 45mm base and act trumpets with 72mm throttle and had no issues with
the brake servo.

There is enough vacuum for the servo but not enough for the servo for the clutch at low RPM

Far fewer cycles than a clutch servo scratchchin so as time to recover even if the vacuum signal is poor , this is how it was possible to run a largish servo off of just one intake runner/cylinder back in the day even with a radical cam IMO. Example.....

Kit of parts supplied.

All fitted in the inner wing next to the clutch servo.

1-2 hours wiring tomorrow then test.

Vane pump, that'll do it without creating a racket or sucking too many amps thumbup

You could but I never found it necessary going to 3 different builds getting more and more radical and wild cams silly you could link all four but ideally you dont want to link the cylinders when running a choke or TB per cyl . Probably OK if you maintained small bore fittings I guess scratchchin

Some nice bits turned up today 38 mm trumpets and base, bore it out to 45 mm on each one,, that’s a big increase when you think about it.
Got a plenum to work with too.

Started cleaning up my manifold with a wire brush attatchrment on my battery gun and 15 mins later wink
I was going to paint it but have some small attachments I can use so might aswell buff the alloy up. This is being ported out at some stage so not going over the top but what fun biggrin
Should look superb with Plenum etc to match, if your into clean polished metal engine art as I call it this is one whole heap of fun thumbup

Is that the high temperature version of Pave Fix plus, that you are using to seal the plenum on?
There are two types, the British type and the one for hot climates, where you can fry an egg on the pavement - you need the latter I think. getmecoat

I knew you’d be on me like a flash biggrin

Makes a good seat as I was only staring at the manifold and decided to try with the drill just to see,,,, well chuffed, off to buy more attachments wink
