As its a non return valve im not sure its suitable for this application and would remove it.
Id try the full vacuum mod first before messing with this system, see how it goes for you.

After looking and listening to the engine, I completely agree, and have already ordered a replacement section of hose to revert this!
It feels like the breather flow is restricted by this ‘mod’.
I’m now going to keep an eye on whether the rocker cover gasket needs attention, though I’m hoping not, albeit a cheap item, it’d be a faff to have to change…

So I reversed this, the whistle has gone, and the engine is much happier.
What I did is not a 'mod', it's bobbins, don't do it!

After a service: oil/filter, replacement dizzy cap, rotor arm, new upgrade leads, BP6ES sparks (was B7ECS)...
It's running very nicely, feels like it's pulling more readily, more lively through the lower rev range.
Fun to give it some beans, what a joy to drive!

Good to hear.
I think there are quite a few things that can exaggerate the shunting which has been previously discussed but it seems an ignition system in good working order is the first place to start.
We all know quality spares are hard to come by, where did you get your cap and rotor from?

just eBay - a seller called 'simonbbc'
They looked exactly the same as the ones for sale on Motaclan and Racetech, but marginally cheaper.
Less than £20 for both parts.

The old rotor is a Lucas, the old cap is unbranded, but I have kept them both along with the old leads.
I'm very confident in my new leads, and now consider the dizzy cap and rotor arm to be service items at that sort of price, so I'll just see how they go.

I know this place used to be highly recommended for rotors but not sure on the caps, you do pay for it though.

Im sure the ones you have will be ok though in all reality.
