Glad you all had a fun day and returned intact.
What the blazes is that in the Mini? It looks like standard BL clutch housing and sump castings, suggesting that it's still gearbox-in-sump, and the oil filter position suggests it is still an A-Series block... so what devilish 16v head conversion is that?
Answers on a postcard....

The BMW head has been a popular transplant onto the old A series for decades, in fact those heads much be pretty rare items themselves now. Was it a K100 head? (one of the biker guys will know)

I don’t think we saw it on track at all. They spent ages trying to get it to run properly, lots if strange noises, then they went home. TVRs were totally reliable as always.....

135 or thereabouts.

A super day that you others missed!

Always a great group of TVR guys that made for a great day.

Nicks Caterham was epic and I chickened out of a passenger ride.

Johns Wedge was like a new car but better. Excellent job John and it wasn't too shabby on track.

Kevs tweaked 4.0 was as good as a standard 5.0 on track, the recent upgrades rally showed.

Anthony's 4.6 turbo on slicks was a force to be reckoned with as I could not quite keep up around the bends.

I didn't see Ian's on track..........
Must have been going too quick then...... tongue out

Nah, I was in Edinburgh this week. wink

Your 400 bhp and wide torque made your car quicker than mine up the straight Peter, and last session out I had so much understeer I think the front slicks have had their day. Back to the R888s

As I told my grandchildren, “I don’t do water fights when there’s a Y in the day”. Took them ages to work it out. I blame the school.....

135mph for me.
I’ve just been watching the Caterham 420 supercup races at Snett and the leaders are doing 132mph so that’s good going considering you won’t be coming into the straights as fast thumbup

Going flat out down the straights, the engine revs willingly up to 6.2K, change up and flat out again, the feeling is epic!

This engine feels so strong all the way through the rev range and the sound now from the ACT manifolds is fantastic, different but no louder.

Again, a great day and to all who have never taken your car on track, give it a go. Don't be intimadated, you can go at your own speed.

Where else can you legally go absolutely flat out when you want to?

I feel the need to add to this.......come along and try your car on track, it’s a great way to enjoy your car and actually reduce your speeds back on the road. If you get the track day bug, come and join our group on track, it’s always more fun with your friends.
But, and it needs to be said, if you find you want to do more, then you need to do a little work on your car.
You will want to use some track tyres, but they cause higher cornering G forces, so you would be advised to get a baffled sump.
You will want to stop better too, so get some bigger brakes, but that probably means bigger wheels, same point about the baffled sump, and do use higher boiling point brake fluid.
You will want to corner better without spinning, so you need a good 4 wheel alignment, after fitting adjustable dampers - you want your car to be comfortable on the road, but have stiff suspension on the track.
And finally, there is always the risk of a roll over, on road or track, so it is a good plan to fit a roll over hoop to protect your head. Needn’t be a full FIA cage, just something simple behind the seats.
Track day insurance is available to take away the worst of the financial pain if you have a major problem.

Various hoops are available. Here’s mine, behind the seats and not too obtrusive. About £500 fitted
