Hi
My much loved Chimaera of 20 years has been stood in the garage for 12 months. It has been on a trickle charger and the battery is showing full. Dash board lights come on, the fuel pump doesn't prime and the starter motor does not turn over. I have checked all the fuses and was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and what I should check next?
Many thanks

Could be the immobiliser has failed.

Have you tried locking and unlocking it with the remote? Leave a window down when you do, it may leave the doors locked! Or try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery to reset everything.

2 posts in over 12 years!? You've a lot of reading to catch up on methinks. There are loads of threads on here with similar problems if you do a search.

Defo sounds like the immobiliser. Try as above, if that doesn’t work you could try bypassing it to see whether that is the problem.

If it is an immobiliser problem the solution can be found in this thread.

Christopher, if you need my bypass instructions just PM me and I'll send them by return.

My bypass is designed to be completely reversible, this means you can just use the instructions to prove/disprove if your issue is genuinely immobiliser related or not, and without making any permanent changes to your wiring.

However, what you describe does sound like the classic immobiliser issue which is very common on these cars, so my money would be on the bypass solving your no-start frustrations. Just PM me and follow the instructions I send back, within 45 minutes of work you'll have your answer.

Dave.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all your help. I've disconnected the battery and reconnected after a few mins but still nothing, however when reconnecting the alarm didn't go off as it always has previously.
Dave, if you could send me you bypass instructions I'd be very grateful.

Thanks
