Lovely car, Cat D wouldn't bother me at all.

The red does though. Any other colour and I'd be hunting for loose change down the back of the sofa.
Cat D would not bother me either, and i love the colour, the red is fantastic when you see the car, and not just a picture.

I may be a bit biased, but who cares.

Thats a lot of car for the money assuming the reserve is 8k.

Why did you sell yours Alan. I remember it being very tidy and very pucker looking. Excellent condition from new sort of vibe about it,,,
To fast I suppose, Mazda far more sedate and sensible colour wink
Confusing me with someone else dear chap. My name isn't Alan, it's Richard. Anyway, sold my Chim for a Cerb.

Good god I thought I was talking to a mate, sorry if I caused offence, just having a laugh.

None taken! rofl

Clearly I got rid of the Chimaera just in time before senility set in.

Anyway, carry on, I was enjoying the banter.

The market is unbelievably quiet at the moment but I've just managed to sell my 41k miles Chimaera at a knock down price. It has taken far longer to sell than any other car I've ever owned (3 months) and there were hardly any enquiries despite it being by far the cheapest on the market for its condition and mileage. Unfortunately I had to move it on due to lack of space and having too many other cars that aren't being used much. Oh well, my loss is certainly the buyer's gain in this case 😟.

To get this thread back to its title, this one is a cat D and got no bids at £8k. Reserve is at least this I think. Now at £6k start. Quite nice in red I think. How much is cat D going to matter on one of these?

I know this car and it is really lovely. One of my good friends is selling it to fund his first house purchase. I can't believe it still hasn't sold at that price, the market must be very quiet...

Does service history make a difference? Only asking as after 2 1/2 years got my back on road after but and bolt restoration... I am sure this debate has come up many a time but interesting to see current views....

Just said to someone looking to buy their first Cerb, buy on condition, condition and history.

History doesn't necessarily mean service history. As with all things specialist, it's not like buying a second hand Fiesta.

My yellow peril may end up for sale shortly as I've bought something else.
Now have three cars with two seats and we are a family of 3 plus two dogs....
This depressed market is depressing me.

I wonder if this apparent lack of buyers is affecting Griff sales too scratchchin

I think it is affecting all TVRs and probably classic cars in general.

Trust me to buy my Tuscan 15 months ago when prices were at their peak!

Could be worse, not that it sold, but someone could've jumped in yikes

imo the car market in general is rather quiet at the moment.

and this effects even more the niche-car market.

see the red ebay chimaera...there is a reserve price and it looks like the seller did not push the price by shill-bidding.

such auctions show the "real" value...i mean "what people are willing to invest at the moment"...6.6k sounds not much....but its a 21y old car, the volume-model of TVR, its "only" a 400 Model, interior is aged, enginebay: even it looks clean its is a bit untidy, the wisbnones are new, but the chassis looks dirty and the "real condtion" is hidden by layers of underseal or waxoyl and most likely ready for a refurbishment, at least with outtriggers.

seeing it realisitc 6.6 is not really cheap putting all obove into consideration.

Tvr didn’t build an errr Volume model as you put it? There’s no such thing.

Have you viewed this car in person,,,

I think what the poster is referring to Alun is that more Chimaera's were sold than all the other TVRs put together, (or something like that).

You can't get away from the fact that the chim is definitely the best selling and most popular model .

Compared to everything else they built it was.

£6.5k is where the market is. If it needs outriggers and other work, even that is too much. You are taking a very slanted view, the car sales world in general buy and sell to make a profit, cars are nothing more than commodities.

That’s because it’s far and away the best model TVR ever made. wink
