I’m just wondering how much location effects prices, I’ve had my 500 Chimaera for sale for a few weeks now, about 95% of the interest has been from Southern England but when they find out my location all have decided that it’s too far to travel. I personally have never had issues traveling for the right car. So I’m interested to find out other people’s views are?

I don’t mind travelling, I don’t think I’ve ever found a car I’m interested in near me.
Travelled 8 hours in total to view my Chim and another 7 the following week to collect it and bring home.
I do understand people not wanting to travel though, the number of times I’ve seen a car described as immaculate and been disappointed when I’ve got there has been one too many.

With experience of seeing very poor cars that have been miles away I always put nearest first into the search engine.

These always get a first viewing and is more important than price. So easy to go and view within 50 miles and depending on what you’re looking for, generally there is plenty around.

We have all visited cars that are not as described and photographs of cars always seem to look better than the car actually is.

Only travel if there are no other ones near you.

For the OP, there seems to be more people and more money down south hence the interest. Why not consider if your car is very good, putting it in the hands of a southern dealer to sell. No idea what they charge but it may be worth it if you have faith in your car.

Getting a dealer down South could be an option, actually I have been considering lifting the body over the winter and getting the chassis blasted and re coated, the chassis is by no means rotten ( I’ve done 3 chassis already) but it would look better and I’m sure give people more confidence in the car. Being a 500 and with under 21K miles I think it would then be worth much more come Spring time.

Alternatively send it down to me....I'll store it in my lovely garage down south. Then give it a nice run often to keep it working well until it sells. I'll charge nothing for the service and might even buy it myself wink

Mmmmmm, When I sold my Z4MC I drove it down to Southampton (585 miles) after the prospective buyer sent me a deposit, having seen all the photos documents and video clips I’d sent him he was delighted with the car. So I guess if there’s a will there’s a way!
