It used to be a common thing in my Offshore mechanic days for someone to put some extra bolts, springs etc on the bench during an overhaul of something.......

I think you are right, it probably was in the oil pump pressure relief valve as a spacer.
Hence the photo of the end cap copper washer and the crub screw, above.
Great to get have you all out there.
