Here’s mine after Hethel trackday and 4 days on the drag strip over two separate occasions and about 25 runs in total, + 15,000 road miles where most of it is in traffic.

You can’t see a lot, your manifolds look closer to the plugs than mine though!

I got some heat socks off EBay via a link someone put on here think may have been GOG ?

Anyway they are the lava rock titanium ones gold colour and cost about £25 for all 8 been on for over 1000 miles with straight booted magnecor leads and they do rest on the manifolds at the back of engine and I checked at the weekend no scorching at all and still good (have purchased standard Lucas leads and will fit these when needed)

All I know with exhaust wrap (same stuff as these boots) on my bikes if you use the fibreglass stuff it goes hard and brittle and does scorch I’ve a motorbike with the Titanium larva rock wrapped exhaust and it never goes brittle and is always a nice soft touch (when cool obvs) and been wrapping bikes exhausts for years would never use anything but the Titanium larva wrap , the black stuff used to go so brittle with the heat it would just snap off in the wind !!

So can vouch for these boots on mine and not expensive just look out for Titanium larva rock

Hi I fitted the ceramic top leads just before embarking on a 2400 mile round trip to the south of France and they were perfect. Bear in mind you have a make them up. https://tvr-parts.com/tvr-parts/part-details/tvr-e...

I think a lot of my problem is that I have cheap socks.

I will speak to you on Monday Simon and you can advise me where you got yours from.

Knowing Mat Smith's ordering preferences, that's probably where mine came from.

Hi Peter.

I have bigger sooks and not folded back. I think they came off ebay but I may be wrong.

How about getting the manifolds ceramic coated and wrapped?

How about ceramic coating the manifolds? Not a cheap option but looks great and should reduce temperatures considerably.

Saying that, I am using original extenders and bog standard Ford Ka leads and have no issues. I think spending hundreds of pounds on HT leads is not necessarily the be all and end all

ETA just read the post above mine hehe

https://www.formulapower.com/

These guys will make a custom set if you send them measurements.
Not that expensive compared to some.

I spoke to Tim at ACT yesterday as I have their big for manifolds.

It seems to make matters worse a new sets of manifolds run slightly closer to the plug line.

I told him I was using Magnacore leads and the problem I had. He kindly called Magnacort UK direct to a guy he knows there who suggested I send leads to him and they will fit a set of high temperature plug leads ends to the leads which when used with extenders which I do use should solve the problem.

I will also order a known better make of sock and hopefully with the two together I’ll solve the problem!

Why would you want to ceramic coat those beautiful Clive pipe-Art stainless manifolds? yikes

I'm use ACCEL ceramic plug leads.

About £90 a set in the US, or about double that from TVR parts.

I picked up a coupe of sets last time I was working in San Fran.

To stop the leads melting? He's wrapped them already.

Isn’t that to keep the shiny clean?

Even the fanciest of leads with expensive heat proof sleeves fitted don't hold up much better, not totally burnt through.
I'm almost tempted to go back to extenders and cheap standard leads.
