Hi Glyn
reaction times have no effect on the ET. You can sit there for 20 seconds on a green light and run the same time as normal.
The timing is activated as you set off and break the timing beam which is 12" I think beyond the stage beam.

The key to an improved ET is to improve the launch technique and reduce that 60 foot time. As I said with practice most people can find 2 to 3 tenths and therefore improve by half a second.
Hi Derek

Right.... Got ya.. smile

Would racing slicks on the rear work well enough for the odd Drag Race event?

Better than road tyres?

Debateable whether they would be much better but worth a try if you have some old ones to try.
Dedicated drag radials are best but don't come cheap but I usually have a spare pair of worn ones you are free to try if I am there.

Thanks Alun and Derek for your replies and info. It's appreciated. biggrin

and

Derek

I would take you up on lending some drag wheels and tyres when we meet again. Assuming they are 4 Stud? Thanks

it will also be interesting to see if the wheel arch clearance is sufficient being a Griff and obviously how they improve my times rotate

Cheers

Glyn

Shame I couldn’t make Saturday in the end, reasons were out of my control!

Out of interest I achieved a 12.07 with old road tyres from memory.

This improved to an 11.83 with some secondhand drag radials.

I will say that I’m sympathetic with my gear changes and I’m sure Derek could improve on that!

Wow praise indeed from a proven great driver. You know your car and that 11.83 was a very impressive time for any NA TVR.
Last time I tried to drag your car I think I cooked the clutch attempting a burnout, sorry again for that.
