Well that’s gone and thrown a spanner in the works.
The elephant in the room has stopped all progress for the time being.

I’d go through a brick wall to finish this car but I’ve not been feeling well so now in my second week of self isolation.

I’m hatching a plan to still go and get it built upto a rolling chassis so my friend can use his garage.
Deciding to do the job as best a DIY man like me can I decided to buy new heat shielding etc etc. Soon adds up so in view of what now is a precarious situation I dare not spend any money on something that now seems rather meaningless. Family family family must come first. So She’s on hold for the immediate future.
I’m the god damn nearly man. Nearly a good racer, almost a decent drummer, nearly made a buck, nearly built a car,,,,,, wtf.
Pales into insignificance compared to what NHS staff are facing.

Thanks to Steve and all you lads for offering any help.
Frank for being a rock in the background,, stuff like that, oh and to my very good friend who made this possible with the use of his precious garage.
I’ll be back.

Me too. You know 12 weeks will turn into six months.

Done so much gardening that I have to have an enormous bonfire today!

At least you nearly got there ..

I never was a racer ... or a decent drummer, but it was better than my guitar playing, which in turn was better than my singing, I can't carry a tune in a bucket!
Thank God I'm a mechanic, I'd never make it in the music industry that's for sure!

True TVR owner to the last - doing your bit for global warming!!
Are you acting as a landing beacon for Gatport Airwick.
Didn't anybody tell you flights are all cancelled?

Hope all is going well in your self-imposed exite from TVRs and the rest of the world.

Got new brake pipes made up... Dom being the man is sending me a few parts like 16 fibre washers ( rear hubs etc) hand brake switch, have fuel lines already so good to get quite a bit done once the postie has been.

Emotions up and down more often than a wes knickers but today can’t wait to get on it.
Sad it’s all tainted by this world turning upside down on me. Taking my bike ride this morning I did have a doom and gloom moment, one second I can’t wait to see the new pipes on the car then the next thinking will we ever get to use and show the cars off again frown

Nearly is like coming second, excruciating Joolz biglaugh

Yeah, nobody will have any money after this crap so why worry and I can still play the old drums every now and then. It’s the little things we will appreciate more than ever now.

All four hubs mounted to wishbones and drive shafts bolted upto dif.
Brake and fuel lines roughly in place.
Shocks need a re furb but just have to wait until this crisis is over.
So throwing them back on to build the car up enough to get it out my mates way.

Front brakes bolted up and lines connected.
Handbrake switch fitted.

Should have wheels on it before long.

That’s the spirit Alun! Looking really good.

It all takes a little longer than you think. If you could work continuously on it you could really have a good crack at it.

I had a slightly easier day, ha ha. I drained and change the oil in the transaxle. Major works for me now.....

Yeah it’s really annoying feeling guilty for working!

6 days away from the car I have to stand there and re cap. It’s a pain.

Reducing my pile of bits.
I did’nt take enough pictures so not exactly sure where both my fuel pipes end before the boot The fuel feed pipe from filter to fuel rail seems miles to long. I’ve followed the route as it came off but this is a replacement piece. I’ll look closer at old line tomorrow.
It’s been and taken so long to get to this stage I’ve totally forgotten how it came apart. Hand brake cable and rear brakes tomorrow.
Felt like a lot of progress today considering only about 5 hrs work.
Not happy I’m compromising on not getting my shocks re Furbed but they can get done at a later stage.
I need a couple of track rod gators as ones just splitting. Think there original just about.
Get a new end fitting on my clutch hyd pipe tomorrow so I can re make that up. I love just tinkering smile

Few more of today’s progress.

Brembo 324 mm disc conversion I did years ago.
You can see the bracket and Allen bolt holding it to the hub with a nut on the back as added safety and pinch. The bolts are threaded through the hub as per original. Then the large bolts that hold the caliper to bracket.

No point doing anything with these old shocks. I’m having to compromise for now. Easy enough to replace later and mate they work great. biggrin

An observation. Forced leave has been good for the paint. I constantly rattle spanners off it, it’s just inevitable yet it’s rock hard already yes

Mate you could go on and on improving it.
I’ve gone from a person who changes everything ( while your there)
to reusing everything. Made brake lines using my original ends biggrin
But they are fine, fit like a glove and I love the idea of now keeping as much of the car original as possible. My experience with some replacement bolts has led me to believe the originals are in fact higher quality by far! And my other experience tells me I’ll be splashing through puddles in no time, they will all be rusty again in one year.
I want Billies but spend money now, no way. It’s a bummer like no other.
But by god we will get there boys. Support really makes it worth it so anyone who looks in, thanks.

If you want to get your shocks refurbed 2 at a time, I can lend you a pair of Racing Reds I have in the shed.
I bought them as a spare pair in case I ended up with a completely stuffed Racing Red at any point in time (for example after a track day indiscretion), and haven't needed them yet as I haven't been that indiscrete, at least not in the handling department.

Just say and they will be on a courier.

What can I say
Arrrh thanks Anthony.
I’d like that but really mine are old but work really well. Been thinking I’d like to get them properly valved etc incl new bushes but then I might aswell just buy Billies later when I dare do it!

Looks naff but it’s function over vanity for me now days. I was going to strip and paint them but that won’t make them work any better.
I really appreciate the offer though sir.
