As a non-welder, can i just say that for me the spirit of trying to help transcends all issues about tone of voice in the posts.
We are all amateurs to varying degrees (360 in my case ), so where stuff of a technical nature is important, it is better to discuss it rather then avoid doing so because of not wanting to offend.
This thread gets great admiration from me - I might be able to do simple meccano type jobs (usually at the third attempt, having phoned a friend several times), but the skill levels required for this kind of work are well beyond me.
Keep up the good work Alun, and I hope much of the feedback helps you.

From a man with your talent
I’m now becoming a welding expert for gordsake.
Some good news, pics have been seen, a bit of remedial work, most of it good welds, so shouldn’t take long to put a few bits right.
I don’t want to get this wrong now so i’m glad this was flagged up as I’m more clued up.

Alun,
You have probably already sorted it but I cannot recall seeing pics of your rear wishbones and the rear anti roll bar brackets.
If they are still original they will need strengthened brackets as the originals crack.
A shame to have to fit them after making the wishbones look pretty.

Working,,, it’s overrated ! Had a time served welder take a look at the car.
Riggers have been checked over and I’ve been told 90% of welds are strong and a good bond. Tidy up corner welds and a few plates and it’s good to go.
I’ve decided to trial fit chassis upto body tomorrow before any more work is completed just for my piece of mind. Chassis is sitting under body as we speak. Extra hands tomorrow to lift it in place and we’ll see but I can’t imagine it’s far out at all. Famous last words.

Hi Alun
I dropped you a message on Facebook, I'm in the process of doing the same job at the moment and am looking into the finish for the chassis once the work is done. How are you finding the Jotsun paint you're using? Are you spraying it or brushing it?

I’m Using Rustbuster E121 epoxy mastic 2 pack.
We will be spraying it on.
I’m not painting it myself but I have seen evidence of this paint from pictures of undersides of cars and it looks good.
It’s likely to be a few weeks before a new paint booth is finished so I’ll be waiting until then. Sand blast it and straight to paint shop for prep and paint. I’ll let you know then.

I've not seen used the Jotsun/Rustbusters 'EpoxyMastic' but the Epidac 2 HB which seems to be a similar soft curing aluminium epoxy, it brushes on lovely I dropped you a message on Facebook, I'm in the process of doing the same job at the moment and am looking into the finish for the chassis once the work is done. the slight harder curing but still very durable Epigripp M902 is equally very good by brush.
Obviously you have to mix it, and they will typically involve measuring it out, unless you have a method for getting the whole batch on in the handling time, but it's not hard with some care and a measuring jug.

Thank you Dave.
Long time away from the car and still a bit to do yet on plates then clean up but getting there.
I concentrated on things like clean off engine Diff prop etc. Welding should be complete in a few days time.
Even reducing pictures I can’t seem to load half of them up. This is a ruddy nightmare these days.
Hopefully an engine might appear.
Crickey it worked.
Nice and clean

Don't go mad but I wouldn't have the gussets like that, they should look similar to the one EddyP posted. If that's all welded up it's just a big water trap
don’t go off on one but I wanted the plates welded right to the corners. God forbid but I’ll drill a weep hole as I think that’s going to be stronger and offer more rigidity than making the plate with the corner chopped off.
They are all welded underneath and finished. I’ll try to get pics of those when I can turn chassis over.
Rear roll bar lugs to add and just tidying up some more welds but it’s nearly done.
Welder had a bit of flex mainly from the amount of weld that goes underneath on the plates but it’s within a few mm here and there.
I don’t know if anyone else noticed when lifting a body, you start lifting it and you realise it’s compressed down somewhat if that makes sense, the ramp arms are moving up but the body is a couple of seconds behind until it creaks apart and lifts.
A few mm and I do mean 2/3 mm at each plate will soon be get lost when body is remounted.
For me all corners are within a mm or so from my original dimensions so I’m very pleased about that and quite surprised as without a designated jig not easy to achieve.
