Hi everyone, had a rear wheel refurbished after a tyre place scraped it whilst recurring a tyre. So rear driver's side has been on a jack/stand for around a week. Whilst they were doing the wheel I cleaned up the rear corner of the outrigger and painted it. Wheel done and i refitted, but the car now pulls quite hard to the left.

How can refurbing a rear wheel and a bit of painting cause this?

No- if it was bent it badly it would vibrate at speed. If its pulling you could have a brake binding badly, or the toe in / out has been altered on that wheel. This would need the bolts loosing on the wishbone to allow the uprights to move. Ive not working on the wishbones for some time, but from what I remember its horribly crude, with just an elongated hole (??). First point of call- does the wheel spin freely if its jacked up? There will be some resistance in the diff, but you should feel a stuck brake caliper quite easily. If the toe in / toe out is wrong you could take it to a wheel alignment place and get it checked, but it would have to be a long way out to pull to one side.

The wheel itself or the disc may not be seated correctly.

If it's a directional tyre has it been refitted the right way round?

I agree that the most likely scenario is a reversed (or flat) tyre, but just check that you've not crushed the handbrake cable with your jack or axle stand... (however, this might not even be possible on your car)

Fault found. Both my front tyres were flat at 14psi and 6psi!! and the refurbed rear was over inflated at 30psi. Supposed to be 22psi front and 24psi rear. I checked the fronts visually before posting this and they looked similar plus not that squashed like you'd expect for 6psi. Light car I guess. So now the question is how the heck did both my front tyres deflate in the garage!

Thanks All and well deducted those that said flat tyre, interesting on the handbrake cable crush though. Never thought of that happening.

Rim corrosion lets the air out along with a faulty valve. How do i know, both my front tyres looked good but where down to 15 psi.
Tyres off rims cleaned re sealed & all is well again. The valves are easy to check with a bit of spit, had that more than once.
Its an age thing we all start dribbling & letting out air at a certain age. With tyres i now set a limit of 7 years. Yes i was once young & daft & hard up unlike my tyres.
