Body Off - The Naked Truth

It’s getting near the business end now. Wow. I’m stoked for you Dave.
Peter mentioned on my thread, it takes longer than you think, it’s a heck of a lot of fettling and routing then routing something else and realise you need to re route the first one. If a Tvr needs 25 cable ties expect to cut off and re tie about 15 of them
Alex must be pretty slick at it being a pro

The devil is definitely in the detail, its the 80/20 rule, ie 80% of the time is spent completing the last 20% of the work, Alex is doing an amazing job and is showing superb commitment to meeting the completion deadline.Peter mentioned on my thread, it takes longer than you think, it’s a heck of a lot of fettling and routing then routing something else and realise you need to re route the first one. That’s a great saying and makes me feel much better. Yes he’d have to be a committed man to be doing this job. Greatest Meccano set on earth though. It’s so much easier working with the body off. I love it. Feels like I’m dodging bullets going to do it though. Not sure the police would agree it’s essential work! I’ll point out it’s an investment,, not a good one but an investment none the less,,, and I might need to realise that investment to keep afloat.
Just got to get it mobile so I can move it. It might be months before it’s safe for me to be entering someone else’s home grounds! For them and me Gazza needs his garage. What else can he do. Business stood still, trying to work out what or who to pay. I really feel for him.
He’s got a lovely early MGB that’s just been painted I think, not at home, I think he loves the Tvr again, he hated them for years, cost him a lot back in the day and he’s been great over my car so if I could just get a week full time on it I’d have the body on.
So plan is too build the chassis up move it to a safe spot nice and dry and let it harden right off. Come back if and when this virus allows and finish it in a week or so, nightmare man I’m almost there.
The more I look the better it looks. Class.
These pictures are valuable to me as with the fresh paint I can see other details I need to remember, I’ve clocked the amount of cable ties underneath for instance. Looking at how close the exhaust runs along the bottom rail etc and where my fuel line is etc. What an unbelievable situation. Look on the bright side, that paints going to harden nicely at home and when this other nightmare is over, it will be ready to take most things thrown at it for years. I think it’s called happy Tivvin x

I was in the same situation, so while the body was off my S I ran a new copper fuel line along the underside of the top chassis rail and sleeved it only where it passes the (new vertical) nearside exhaust manifold.I also ran new st st braided brake lines in the same manner - except they did not pass anywhere near the exhaust manifolds.
