I've just refitted the engine in my Chimaera after rebuild and noticed a tiny weep from the near side middle core plug after refitting everything and starting the car up. Core plugs are all new.

I've removed the exhaust manifold to maximise access, but it's still very tight to change with the engine installed. Car is in the air, so I can get access from underside.

Any suggestions from someone that's done it before on any particular tools to use for in-situ replacement?

Sounds tricky might be a bit tight for room to get it back in. Small hammer and try putting the new core plug in the freezer overnight before hand. Good luck.

Well that wasn't as bad as I'd thought. When I got up close I noticed that the front core plug behind the engine mount was also weeping, so decided to change both. After blocking the engine up in place, I could remove the engine mount. At that point I took a look from the nearside front wheel arch and luckily it's a straight run at both core plugs. A couple of whacks with a large hammer using two 1/2" drive extension bars and both plugs were out. Just about enough access to tap in the new core plugs, with plenty of sealant this time.

Hopefully this approach may help someone with similar issues.
