Hey Chim450 - have you thought of getting the clear side repeaters? You'll love 'em I'm sure!

Yes I have. Gather you can get them from Halfords. Which part no. / Car model do you need?

Just walk in and ask for Ford Fiesta clear ones. Our local Halfords had loads of all colours in a display case. You can get Astra ones, the dreaded Corsa ones etc. The original ones I took off mine had a small Ford logo on them. You may even like the lightish red ones they do with your colour which looks superb in the pic BTW.

I preferred the clear ones though to match the clear ones I'm gonna get for the indicators.

They come with the orange bulbs and cost £17.99 all in. Fitting: about 30 seconds a side.

Look superb!

Chris: talk to us - did you get it yet? You're probably out burning SUL in the sun or polishing it? Expect your report after dusk!!

Ok, I now have a stunning red TVR Chimaera 450, reg R20 JMG sitting on my drive!!
The drive home to Gloucester from Warwick was tentative but bloody great!! No need for PAS, it feels fine, and the engine noise!!, I am a happy chap!
The dealers at Kings did a fantastic job on the valet, even removed all the scuffs on one of the alloys, they look like new. It has a new MOT and a years TVR warranty. Final price for the car was just over 18.5K, which I think is ok, and the bodywork is spotless, not a stone chip in sight.
So,, I am now a very proud owner of a TVR, and very happy!! Just need to purchase a car cover now!

Cheers

Chris, excellent work and I am mega jealous.

Just one question - did they drop on price at all at the dealers, as there is a blue 99 Chimaera there which I have my eyes on. At £19995 it seems like a bargain already, but just wondered how flexible they are...?

Hope you can help, and enjoy the car!!

I am bloody delighted!!! lol.
I too had my eye on the blue chimp at Kings prince, but, he will not budge on the price, I tried! I initially wanted that one, but my fiancee noticed the red one, with my initials on the plate (unfortunately, the other guy kept the plates!!). I eventually got the one I own now for just over 18.5k. The blue one does appear to have quite a few scratches on the paintwork though, when we looked at it closely, but the dealer will not budge on price!! However, I think it's still reasonable for the price, and I am far from disappointed with my red Chimp.

I wouldnt bother with pas. It ruins the feel of the car (IMHO) but makes it easier to parallel park and sell on.
If it took you any time at all to get used to the power of an MGF then be very careful. After driving a TVR you will realise that the MGF had no power at all.

Beware when you switch back to other cars . . or you'll do some overtaking and wonder where the hell all the power went!

Know what you mean Rob and gaz, took my new chimp out for a 100 mile stint today, boy what fun! I filled it up at Tesco, but didnt realise that, before I opened my door, I had inadvertently opened the passenger door too!! So, as I drove out of tesco, I didnt know why the little red light was still flashing near the stereo, and thought nothing of it!. As I turned to go onto the road, thinking I was the bee's knees, my bloody passenger door flung open!!!, Luckily, nothing coming, so stopped on the road and got out to shut the door, must have looked a right pillock!!
I still haven't got use to the 15 second rule for the key fob yet, I find myself scurrying to insert the key and start it as soon as I open the door, before it won't let me!! lol
Have got use to no PAS very quickly, it wasn't even a problem in the Multi Story, it was worth going in to hear the sound of the engine and exhaust resonate!!! lol.
What I like most about the car though, is how well it pulls in any gear, something I never felt in my top of the range TF160, in fact, I remember a bloody Golf TDI keeping up with me in that car!! In the Chim though, put your foot down, and everything seems to disappear, having said that, I was trying to keep within the speed limit, I just love the acceleration up to, and maybe just beyond the limits.
I have heard a lot about build quality probs, but, if I'm honest, thus far the Chimp has a lot less squeeks and rattles than my brand new MG had! Another thing I noticed is that when I was on the overtaking lane on the M5, everyone pulled over!! and I didn't go above 80!
Right, I had better get back to work, so I can continue to fund the new toy!! lol

Are you aware that if you miss the 15 seconds all you do is press the button once on the key fob (can be done with the keys in the ignition) and the car will then start on the key?

I say this because I didn't know that for 4 months and was doing exactly what you are doing! It didn't form part of the comprehensive dealer briefing. I have e mailed you separately about that!

Yep - I love the 0-30ish acceleration and noise . . . turns heads to say the least .. of course when it warms up enough you get some very sexy crackles and pops when you lift off . . . worth perfecting that IMHO! Sounds great

Griff,

Thanks for the mail, have mailed you back, and cheers for the keyfob advice
Prince, if can do it, buy one, I was filled with trepadation beforehand, but, at the mo,, I am very happy!. However, we do have another car to fall back on in the shape of a mildly amusing ZR160. After driving the Chimp though, nothing comes close to that feeling. My fiancee is going to have a go in it Sunday (glad I have no claims protection!!!!)

Yeah guys - join the club. Even if you have hassles - you should be able to diagnose . . that's assuming you've read "The Bible" cover-to-cover!
