Chris - have followed your purchase and am delighted you found a good un - felt pretty much the same meself four months ago Just one word of caution - (well 4 actually): roundabouts - 2nd gear - wet. DO WATCH OUT please - these cars are utterly fantastic in the dry but very hard to catch if you lose it in the rain it just takes a moment of early 'enthusiasm' with the right foot...and you're pointing the other way praying there's nothing to hit. (or maybe that's just me...) Anyhoo - have a really great time with it,

Chris (also 35, also Chimaera, also Xmas every day)

Thank you for the words of caution tant . Before I try anything remotely daring I will book myself a course at the Performance technique track day, as a very helpful Griff owner has enlightened me to. Because I have a TVR, I am under no illusions about my (lack of) performance car ability, and anyway, my fiancee would kill me!!!!!, incidentally, her legs are a lot longer than mine, and she can reach the pedals no problem!!, I'm only 5'7", and can just about reach!!

After driving the Chimp though, nothing comes close to that feeling.

Welcome to the infectious world of TVR Chris.

Just one request - please do not use to abbreviate Chimaera.

Chim is OK.

Hello all! I've just bought a 4.0HC 1996 P plate Chimaera. I've been promising myself one for years (brought up in Blackpool)and now I have it. The roof leaks a little if it's left in the rain (but not while it's moving) it broke down after a week (faulty alternator) but was fixed by Julian at Brooklands in Maidstone (top bloke!) under warranty. Bought it from ADG in Sevenoaks - good down to earth dealer - NOT snooty like some I could mention.
Run it on normal unleaded, optimax or super (lots of it!). Haven't really seen a difference yet but I'm in traffic jams most of the time so it's hardly big throttle openings!
Noticed that thing where it stalls when cold, can't change a fuse in it (I'm training the cat to do it - I can't reach in) BUT....
It makes an awesome noise, it goes like stink and looks gorgeous!

Do you have a super sports exhaust yet? If not don't make the same mistake i made and wait for an entire year before having it fitted. Not a sports exhaust. A SUPER SPORTS EXHAUST it will make you wet your pants.

In Fotango click "get a link to this picture" that URL put in [ pic ] [ /pic ] (but without the spaces)

Find someone that's posted a photo like me and click on the "quote" button to see the code

Looking forward to see you car

Sorry to hear about the wet feet - you can fix that, don't put up with it. It's either the roof fabric needs at least 2 coats for Thompson's Water Seal OR the clutch and/or brake master cylinder seals are buggered - remove all traces of these then replace - don't try to bodge it up OR one or more of the grommets where cables/wires pass through the forward bulkhead is not doing what it/they should OR the seal between the window and surround is a misfit which can be adjusted to get alignment sorted OR the velcro along the bottom edge of the hood fabric between the door and the rear screen is not holding the fabric taut and angulated.

Hope one of these items solves it for you.

Another way to get you image on here is to right click your image in fotango and go to PROPERTIES - double click the address URL, copy it and then paste it in the following between the quotes IMG SRC=" " and put the whole string between < and > with no spaces. THis actually shows the picture rather than the link.

Good luck

Hutch

Edited to say this was done With the [pic ]www.fotango.com/p/eba00267598f0000000 1.jpg [/ pic]

But without the spaces as said before, its by far the easiest way.

Welcome to the TVR fold, no going back know

Banana,
Thank you for putting my Chim on here!, I learnt AutoCAD in 5 weeks, put putting pics on the net is still too difficult for me!!! lol
I think I have the 'Afterburner' rear lights, plus all the Leven alloy goodies inside too!, apart from the wiper and indicator stalks, which I may get!
I have noticed the Leven hood cover is marking the paintwork on the bonnet and boot! not happy about that, but dont know what to do about it!! apart from building a garage!! I am very happy with it though, and thoughts about my MG have well and truly disappeared, love it to bits!
