Purchased my first TVR 2 months ago and it has a sleeved exhaust. I'm really not enjoying the sound of it and wondering if it can be converted back to stock, or is it better buying a new system?

Your best bet might be to swap with someone who wants a sleeved exhaust.
Alternately you can get your box re opened and new perforated pipe and wadding fitted and weld box back up but a bit messy.
Advertise it on the FB page as there may well be a few prepared to do an exchange, that would be my first port of call.

As Alun has said, someone may swap. I had one once and it was too much. You could of course get it replaced with a pair of 'cherry bombs'. Very nice sound and will make length to order at very reasonable cost.

Cherry bomb. very nice sound. Louder than standard but mellow.

I'm undecided whether to get the standard ACT exhaust or the cherry bomb! I've used the search function and done my research but still not sure.

I had the ACT cherry bombs with stock manifolds and cat and i think that's about the best noise i've heard from a Chim with standard manifolds.
Louder than stock but not too loud, and a smooth and deep burble rather than the somewhat uncultured "boat idle" of the sleeved pipes.

I ended up getting an ACT standard exhaust later on though because i found the cherry bombs too loud with the ACT long branch performance manifolds (even with sports cats). But everyone is different.

I'm in a similar position, my Chim I've just bought has had the back pipes removed and these ghastly chrome twin exhausts fitted, they're completely out of place, off centre and I keep burning my leg on them.
I'd say from the rear of the rear wheel has been cut off and these things added, what is the stock exhaust? Does anywhere sell anything vaguely stock, it has no rear back boxes, not sure if they did anyway.

Ooh dear those are rather sad.
Where are you? Probably have a spare exhaust here if you just want to replace the tails.

Tim @ ACT does a standard replacement exhaust system in much better quality stainless than the factory originally supplied, although Tim's is sectional so if you just need the pipes from the centre silencer back i'm sure he can do that.

Here's the link to the full exhaust:
https://www.actproducts.co.uk/product/sj06a-chimae...

He also does a cherry bomb version, which sounds fantastic IMHO with the standard manifolds and cat.

I'm in a similar position - my exhaust puts out 104.5db at 4000 RPM. Great at the traffic lights, but headache inducing on the motorway.

Either the exhaust is sleeved or the wadding has gone.

My friendly TVR engineer is going to open up the box and replace the wadding / revert everything to standard - a lot cheaper than buying a new exhaust!

South Wales, need to get something sorted, burnt my leg again today, if I do it anymore I'm going to look like an Audi fan boy with all the circular burns.

Act exhaust is nice, but it's not high on my list or things to do at the moment, need a good week with the car to really see what does need replacing
