Dodger(rwalker1) said: Just for information my previous Wedge 350SE had 4.0L like all 25(+) of these limited edition models. My V5 stated engine size was 3500cc. I spoke to Chris Ridges and Rich Thorpe just after purchase (in 1997) who advised they were all like that! (apparently to avoid some additional type-approval or something). Other 350SE owners confirmed this.

Have you heard about this SteveH?

Yes. Same thing happened on the big wedges as well. The V5 was then updated to show the engine size.

Over the years (since all time in fact) the TVR factory has produced special 'one off build' cars for 'friends' of the then current TVR owner. This is not unusual in TVR land, and is why there are 4.3 and 5.0 V8Ss and 4.5/5.0 Chimaeras 1994 and earlier. Generally their is nothing particularly special about these vehicles apart from one changed aspect (usually peformance). Over time these cars change hands and myths that make TVR so interesting start proliferating.

Most of the cars we looked at we dismissed within the first 30 seconds of looking, disappointing for some of the owners but they should have perhaps been a bit more honest and we were on a mission. I was looking with a friend for a car for him and I had already owned a couple of M's and rebuilt one of them, so we had a pretty good idea of what we were looking for. It was a long day though.

Initially all Wedge upgrades were actually offered as options to the standard 350. ie a 390SE was a 350 with upgraded engine, spoiler kit, decals, mirrors, etc, etc. This was also true of the early SEACs. I don't know when this stopped becoming common practice, but shpub may know.
