The "proper" (i.e. expensive) Zymol is loads better than Autoglym, but Autoglym is pretty good too. Depends how much money you want to spend. I bought a full do-everything Zymol kit for about £400 and the results are brilliant even though it's hard work to do everything!
But for the Rover and Volvo I use Autoglym because neither car is worth the extra expense to me.

Zymol. Easily.
As SGirl says, applying the pre wax is hard work. Bloody hard work. But the end result is paintwork that feels silky smooth. The wax is great too, most are applied by hand - and funny looks come into the bargain as well.
I'd used AutoGlym for years and had ditched it for the Turtle Wax Emerald Series Carnauba wax which was better than AG IMHO, as there was no white residue. In the end it's mostly down to cost, but the Zymol seems to last so long the costs all but balance out in the end.

I've just used the Meguiar's Deep Crystal range (see earlier thread www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?p=2&f=8&t=18731&h=0)
Easy to use and excellent results.

I'm with FunkyGibbon Meguiar's is very good, better than AG. I used the 3 step system it took a fair while, but the paint work felt like glass afterwards, definitely worth a go IMHO as the prices are very reasonable, they also do a "quick detailer" which is a spray on paint cleaner which now lives in the boot.

.....£400!!!!
Well, alright then, nearly
You can get starter kits for just under a ton - some of us don't have deep pockets and huge budgets like SGirl! I've also tried a slightly more expensive wax from them too which alleged to offer superior stonechip protection. I've used it on the Porsche and so far so good.

Yes, but that's the all-singing, all-dancing kit. Hours of fun. Pre-wax, post-wax, car shampoo, leather prep, wheel cleaner, etc. etc. etc. Pretty good value actually, given how much stuff you get and how long it lasts. Sports Car World's customer service is superb too.
But you can buy the bits individually as well.

It's black. The paintwork is so soft that it gets scratched if you even look at it. So yes, I polish it, otherwise it looks horrible. I like my cars shiny.
Doesn't mean I spend ages on it, though! Nope, a wash first, then a quick Autoglym polish and we're done. Alternatively, there's a local bloke who'll wash and valet the whole car for £20 and spends all morning on it. He's not allowed near the decent cars just in case, but he does a good job of the Rover and Volvo.
I have the concourse kit .. I dont know about what the sales person told me .. but there is no way it will last the 3 years he said, as I cant stop rubbing it in!
I think its the curves or the fact my griff gets a coat every 2 weeks lol
p.s the smell of the wax on your hands lasts about 2 weeks aswell ... hmm maybe I dont wash well enough

Maybe not, but it should make you very good at karate... (or are you too you for that?)
Sorry, say again??
Sorry a typo - "too young for that"
don't you remember the Karate Kid, where the old mentor trained the young whippersnapper by getting him to do domestic chores. "Wax on, wax off" had to be done in a certain way, developing particular muscles for a particular karate move.
film was in the early 80s, hence ageist comment. sorry to be cryptic.

Umm... sorry! I should remember it, but I'm afraid I don't! I think the early 80s passed me by in a blur of adolescence...
