I have the 1995 4L with the serp engine. The power steering pump works fine but is getting noisier now. When the car is hot it sounds like a turbo spooling up! Otherwise the usual groans and growls when turning from side to side. Yes - there is glitter in the reservoir and I have flushed it when I first bought the car, installed an inline filter too, but the glitter in the fluid remains.

Is it time to retire the ZF original pump or can I refurb it?

If I go new, any brand recommendations please? I'm thinking of the BGA pump listed against QVB101110.

Kelley Clinton refurbed my pas pump 18 months ago.
I would send it to them to inspect it, it might be better to have the original pump refurbed than use a new replacement that might not be to the same standard as the original.

Do you have contact details for them? A quick Google didn't turn up much. I have been looking for someone to do the same to my (Serp) PAS pump. I have a new one fitted but wanted to get the original refurbed anyway, since it was a Britpart one that got fitted as the replacement.

After a bit more Googling, is it this company - https://steering-racks.co.uk/ ?

Yes it's Kiley Clinton, not Kelley.

Here’s a link to what I think is a noisy pump. The car is warm and with no turning of the steering wheel. Just a few light revs during the recording.

To me it’s too noisy but would like your thoughts. I don’t want to mess with something if they all sound like that.

Update on this one.

Went for an Allmakes QVB101110 and the power steering is nice and quiet now.

Ribble Valley 4x4 - £69 +VAT. I re-used my existing fittings as they were fine and didn't leak. Fluid was Comma AQ3 semi synthetic. I also have a MAPCO 2991 in line filter too.
