Drove one, want one!!
Discussion
Evening.
For a long time I've been thinking about selling my Westfield and getting a Chimaera. Just started looking seriously, and drove a 4.0 for the first time today........ YES PLEASE!!!
Just one thing, is it me or is the driving position just a little odd? Great if you have VERY long legs and no arms???
Anyway, I can live with that. Must carry on the search for the perfect Chim, any advice greatfully recieved.....
PS. Anyone want to swap a Chim for a Westfield??

Hi Chris - just my 2 penneth FWIW:
Drive as many as you can - they're all different - I've got a great 4.0HC but drove some dogs on the way.
Get one in February when prices are down, or just before Xmas when dealers are more inclined to haggle.
Try to get the newest 4.0 you can afford, but since you're coming from a Caterfield, suggest a slightly older 5.0 for you. They are much quicker and not nec. less reliable. Whatever you do, try and get a post-late-94 car (with serpentine engine & T5 box) or a phase 2 car (from P reg onwards, even better). PAS and aircon not really an issue unless you want em specially (see this board). Could go on for hours (blah blah) but do give thought to joining the TVR club and getting one of the members' cars from the club mag - most are way better than average and prices very reasonable. Of course, there's always the 4.5, arguably the best of the lot...and some as quick as 5.0s in the real world...Anyhoo, I'm sure there'll be more posts on the way! Ignore Scruff if he accuses you of being a golfer/greenkeeper/shareholder/etcetc for wanting a chimaera, it's just his way , cheers, Tant

Indeedy You should find lots of 4.0 & 4.5 examples around - the 5.0 Chimaera being a somewhat rarer beast. Your best bet is going along to your local meet & get some people to take you out in their cars - that way you should get a feel for what is good & what isn't.
