Well I'm embarrassed to say that I had all the fluids (including the diff oil), changed by Str8six - so I have no idea what kind of st came out or what went in (because some of them might not have been changed in years). But I'm looking forward to picking her up tomorrow and I hope she runs like a well lubricated racehorse! yes

Then it's off to the wheel refurbishers with a complete set of new tyres, because I'm going 16" all round and so have bought an extra set. hehe

Dont dare ask about engine oil then or what you should use in an LT77 Tranny.
I think the various oils have been discussed here in detail over the years, no harm in regular changes for what it costs, id maybe stretch the interval out though slightly if it were only doing 1000 miles a year but always better to listen to the experts not some random on the internet.

Hey Belle - well all I can say is that it's super smooth and quiet on the diff and gearbox front. Smoother gearchanges too! Much better with some fresh fluids ....

Many thanks to local to me Ph'er Potless who allowed me to question him to death and then took me out in his lovely red 450 Chim....

I was surprised in a number of ways.

How much nicer the ride is vs the 7, how nimble it felt, and then just how fast it was - I didnt quite expect that tbh....

Next stage is to have him bring the car over to see if I can actually fit one in the garage.

My cars been sorned for over 2 years getmecoat but tax is around 260 a year and similar for insurance depending on level of cover.
I remember many owners getting insurance down to 100-150 quid usually through Classic line only a few years ago.
Contrary to expectation they are rarely stolen or badly crashed.

I dont think there is a better one, the ones already mentioned are all decent, its just a matter of finding the car you like really and if your willing to pay their prices.
Im assuming you meant dealers.

All seem to offer something slightly different in expertise - so it depends where you live - but I would advocate Str8six very strongly. Jason and his team have a huge depth of knowledge and did some excellent work for me recently. Nice guys to boot.

I know it’ll vary a lot, but what are people paying for insurance , particularly 450 owners ?

Bit of a 'how longs a piece of string' thing really isn't it unfortunately.

Renewal for me last may was £360 through classic line for a W reg 2000 450.

Not a member of a club, fully comp, £0 voluntary excess, 43 years old, car in a locked garage over night, no convictions/cancellations of policies/accidents etc, full clean license, 5000 miles per year, owned the car 16 years (not sure if that relevant), living in the south east in a fairly 'insurance friendly' postcode as far as I'm aware.

Insurance was the reason for me joining a club I found it made a significant difference to me. Certainly worth the price of membership and now the Blackpool Thunder is so cheap it may be worth seeing what impact it would make to your quote.

Hi Mark, the insurance on my 450 was about £350 through A-Plan in Thatcham, I've insured the S3 with them for years (I should really try shopping around one of these years but there's always something more interesting to do!). As you've seen it is kept in a garage, 5k miles and I'm fifty something.........clean licence etc.

Still thinking it over.....?
