My 6 month old, 450 Chimaera has just retuned from repair. The reported problem was a petrol smell when the tank was full! It turned out that some of the sponge foam near to the filler neck had been 'included' in the joint between the tank and the rubber pipe which passes fuel from the filler neck to the tank. This has caused the tank to never properly pressurise and has caused fuel to pass from the tank to this foam, leaving it constantly wet with fuel. If you have a fuel smell, I would check this hasn't happened when your car was built. Does anyone know why the tank is pressurised? My car seems to be running a lot better since this has been fixed.

Depends on what you mean by presurrisation. The tank is vented through a carbon cannisterand depending when the cap is removed in this cycle and the amount of fuel in it , you will get different levels of whoosh when it is opened.
