So my 2001 Mk3 Chimaera 450 is pale blue. Actually it's called Blue frost. Nearing the finishing touches on the youtube suspension rebuild, I am down to the wheels. They looked in good condition. Started to clean the insides of the rims with detergent & hot water + lots of elbow grease. 3 have come up very well. The 4th the front left looks like it has over many years had a brake fluid leak. Most of the inner rim paint was flaked off etc. I have now with the wire wheel got it all back to the clean alloy.
The tyres although in great condition are dated 2007 fronts & 2011 rears. I guess this is unaceptable & all need replacing. The Jury is out on which to go for, but will be good quality. Toyo Proxy is what is on there.
The question is. Do I have the tyres removed which my Daughters garage can do for me & have the wheels powder coated. The car being pale metalic Blue would a nice shade of gold look better than the origonal silver.
Not sure what to do. Any input greatly appreciated.
Steve.

I'd stay silver personally looks nicer or maybe a gunmetal grey type colour would work against the blue.
Some major wheel refurbishers may have wheels in their showroom you could look at.
As for tyres Toyo are ok as are Uniroyal Rainsport which most use, your quite limited on choice for the Chim.

Stay silver.

Pale blue and gold? Your choice, but definitely not for me.

Absolutely stay silver I say. Perhaps a controversial opinion, but I'm yet too see a car that looks good with non silver/normal alloy coloured wheels, unless they came as an OEM fitment. Just my opinion so don't flame me laugh

So maybe stay with the Silver. I only have to paint 1 wheel then on the inside only. Just a choice of tyres now. Anyone tried the Toyo Proxes TR-1

I doubt you'll get T1-R.

Presuming 15" fronts and 16" rears? Usually it's (depending on power steering or not) 205/55/15 and 225/50/16

I've just looked at mine, I have T1-R but they are 2018. I think they are discontinued now. I'll probably go for Uniroyal Rainsport next.

I think TR1 are the latest models, i had some on an Mx5 last year and they felt pretty good to me in all conditions to be fair.
Very reasonably priced too.

Paint the middle the same colour as the car and mirror polish the rims.

I don't think you'll get them in 15 or 16 inch either. More's the pity.

No option for 15 or 16 inch wheels unfortunately.
