New Tyres needed - Advice please
Discussion
Hello all
Well it seems I have managed to wear out my rear tyres (I have no Idea how that happened!) I currently have some Bridgestoone RE 72s on there but wanted to ask if anyone had any recomendations as to boots and if anyone knew the best place to go to find them in the London area.
Any help much appreciated

Hi
Just had some Bridgestone SO/2's put on the rear of mine. Got them from blackcircles.com 08452000022, excellent service they are v. clued up and they will send the tyres on next day delivery to a garage near you for fitting. I paid £230 for two tyres inc of fitting etc.
What tyres have you got on the front - you might want to match them up.

You drive a chim 400 - right? Do you have these F1 GS-D3s on it? How many miles have you driven on them? Can you make comparison with the standard SO2s?
Anyone else using these? Comments?
Edited to say that from checking other threads on tyres there was a suggestion that the Goodyear F1 205/55ZR15 is a D2 tyre rather than the new D3
Can anyone confirm that a F1 GS-D3 205/55ZR15 tyre is being distributed in UK?

Bracknell Tyre and Battery and Micheldever Tyres are likely to have cometitive prices. They're always mentioned when the tyre debate starts (again). They may be a bit of a way to travel depending on where you are in London, but they're worth a call.
I paid £250 for 245/45/R16 SO3's from Bracknell (for the pair, fitted, valves, balanced etc.). They've been excellent so far, but I'm no expert and I know others would beg to differ re. SO3s. There was a rumour of SO4s arriving sometime in the near future, but no news recently.
Cheers,
Steve.

This thread related to rear tyres and 225/50ZR16s are likely to be the rear tyre of choice for winter driving in a Chimp.
Comparing the D3s to the superseded S02PP is difficult but the SO3s seem to be dissapointing; there was talk at the motorshow that they were designed for the american market. Either SO4s are somebody's idea of a joke or Bridgestone appear to think that the SO3s are a failure.
(Goodyear do not make a 205/55ZR15 D3 - lacking like Toyo. The availability of top quality rubber in this tyre size is an increasing problem.)

Could I be wrong here - but ZR rated tyres are upto 149MPH? And all Chimaeras can go 150+? Mine failed an MOT due to tyres and currently going through the same decisions - S03, Toyo etc. Turns out in the end, spoke to tyre place that there is a Bridgestone that is almost identical in treat, pattern and type to the S02 - though cant remember the name - which isnt the S03. Interestingly they did me a deal on them so should be fine....
However, if they turn out to be crap then I can use them for track days / road tyres depending on their abilities.... so a little experiement. Will post back with findings...
Cheers,
Paul
