Been out today in the chim , covering over 150 miles when probably most were rightfully in garages or under cover. When we weren't driving it was left standing in the rain (come on cassian - make me another offer!!). We drove through standing water when we couldn't avoid it and after ploughing through the muddy tracks that were meant to be roads I hosed it down when we got home. Delighted to report that there's no leaks, no wet on or under the carpets, it didn't fog up and the alarm hasn't gone off since we got home.

I know I abused my trusty steed today but I thought it might be useful for potential chim owners who read these posts to hear that you can have a chim and drive it in the rain without getting your feet wet!

However I will be in the market for a set of new rubber next week - SO2s if I can get them or SO3s. A little extra water clearance would have been helpful. Squirming at 65 in third certainly keeps the mind focused! My current rubber is fully legal but probably not adequate for today's conditions.

BTW: excuse me, if anyone was on the A24 today but there's slow and there's an undertaking opportunity. Most of the numpties appeared to have been consigned to the outside lane leaving vast expanses of tiv territory on the inside

I went for a blast today too- just for the hell of it.

Saw a yellow Cerb then a black (or dark) Griff on the A41 (but didn't get a look at their plates)- perhaps returnees from the BP&t?
Think I've got the hang of slow-in, fast-out cornering in the wet now...

Also been out today in the Pg rain and can happily report I will be unable to take any goldfish in as lodgers. Chims really are not as bad as people make out, we even had to roof off for a little while at one point and were still able to carry out a conversation easily.

Anyway mine has a brand new set of SO2s (long story)all round ("16" f & R as on late models) and if it wasn't for the little bits of rubber going left and right together with an accompanying "squishing" noise all the time I would not even know it was raining. Bloody marvelous day out and will never let the rain stop me again!

Hutch, did you mean today or yesterday? Absolutely persistantly-ing down yesterday around here all day. Bright sunshine all day today up until around 5.00pm but didn't go out because I'd arranged other tasks after yesterday. Frustrating!

Yesterday, as in Saturday! Today Sunday was brighter and once the early thunder storm had washed through, the sun came out and I went for a blast with the top down over some of the roads we used during the Surrey Menace run last month. Wet roads, leaves everywhere, sun streaming through the trees, lots of point and squirt, remembering to be progressive on the throttle once the car gets into line on the way out of the corners, occasional intended drift, occasional unintended drift but always learning. Oodles of v8 resonance along the narrow lanes.

Going to get the under-regions debrided/Hammerited/Waxoyled during the week....might book the chim in as well
