jamer said: The best thing to do is go and both drive one, if your wifes uses it Power steering is a must when parking, personally as well it used to be that everyone with a TVr called you for having PAS - now 90% of customers have demanded it. Even the last Griffiths had it as standard.

Lumbar support is a great option , but not to worry as it's £200 max to retro fit.

Forgot to mention I've got PAS aswell.

I bought a 500 18 months ago from Adrian Blyth. Best thing I ever did. For me it had to be the 500, full hide, griff wheels etc. The noise is amazing - serious feel good factor. Every time I take it out I smile from ear to ear. Struggling with the idea of selling it. Shall I be sensible (just moved down south) or shall I just enjoy it. I would love a Tuscan but...

At the end of the day any TVR is an experience but shop around. I looked for a couple of years on and off and then seriously for six months. Get your spec together and don't flinch on the must haves but sway on the nice to haves. That done, you will not be disappointed. Best of luck!!

Hello chaps and chapesses

Being knowledgable about cars and technical crap but knowing little about TVRs - my wife wants to purchase a Chimaera. My question is what are the pros and cons of the 4.0, 4.3, 4.5 and 5.0L ones. I see that it is mainly 4.0 jobs for sale. Looking at the performances between these cars - there seems to be little in it.
What are your experiences

Cheers

E

Probably the sweetest engine is the 4.3 IF you can find a nicely sorted one but far and away the most practical and popular is the 4L. It can give you all the thrills you need on the road without the extra insurance and general running costs and it keeps its value so resale is easier. On the other hand if you are a track days guy then it has to be the FULLY TUNED 5.2 (5.3 even) from v8 developments. Do you need it???

Hi If you want achimaera for fun then a 4.0lt wil be more than up for the job and very usable in town, If you want to blow away almost every car on the road then a 5.0lt is for you and the wife, or just compromise with a 4.5lt. How ever PAS is a must if you want to have some comfort in driving, The hardest choice is to find a colour combination that you like with the amount of hide you require, also the newer chims were better put together so i am told ? and a 5.0 lt will cost more to run, I have not long had a 4.0 lt which is fantastic and goes plenty fast enough but the best trip i have had was at 50mph with the roof off and the sun blazing in a week ago so there you have it, I was also told that 10% of all chimera oweners are girls. ( my wife drove mine on Sunday last and loved it) so try a few they all seem to behave different good luck Ron Ps( james Agger )TVR 07970 530890 gives a brilliant service.
