Topless in Winter

So stopped under a motorway bridge and put the top up. This caused much tooting of horns from the passing plebs, who seemed to think it was in some way amusing.
I did this on the way to Oxford one night - with my mate still asleep in the passenger. I timed the pit stop under the bridge to perfection!!!
I picked up my 450 seac a few weeks ago - and as
it was not raining thought ; roof off.
It started raining lightly when I arrived at the
M25 (Watford) and got progressively heavier
when I reached Reigate 60 miles later.
The looks people give you are great - first they
really have no idea what a 450 seac is and next
they cannot believe you have the roof off in the
rain.
And no - I never did both to put the roof on - the
wedge shape just throws all the water behind you !
Keep the roof off !!

the top's off all year, of course. Drove from Godlming to Tewkesbury on saturday afternoon. Was fine as I drove along the M-ways (M4 was gorgeous - crystal clear sky, shades on, lots of posing), but become cloudier / wetter as I turned off at swindon...as long as you 'make good progress' you don't get wet though. Hit a patch of freezing fog nr cheltenham (cold ears, freezing nose, blue lips), but stayed drizabone. Unfortunately, hit some traffic in tewkesbury, fog turned to heavy drizzle, and big drops of rain started bouncing off my heed and onto m'biscuit leather seats. Hmmm.
I put the lid on the motor in a safeway car park. Had some priceless looks from the great unwashed as they watched me park in the rain with the roof off. I love it. One woman even walked into a parked car as she gawped at me...

Change the thread slightly - I had the same sort of weird looks/ laughs from old ladies when I was (learning) to surf in Oz - in the rain . . .you come off the beach - carrying your board - and you're wet - BIG DEAL - I've been in the water - so not very odd that I should not care walking thorough the rain . . some people. - Maybe too much sun for these types . .

Thanks ocean1 - Bowood near Chippenham. TVRCC Bristol region invitation to Jag owners gathering back in the (dry) summer. You can't normally get your car near the lake though...special permission given for the event.
I very nearly learned the hard way always to take the roof with you. Went out for a swift coffee with a friend - left roof in garage as sky was 100% blue. Couldn't posisbly rain in 30 minutes...
Well of course 30 mins became 2 hours and suddenly this big grey cloud turned up. Rain was just starting as I left. 'No worries', thought I, 'as long as I can keep over 30 I should be OK'. Except that halfway home there's a level crossing which is famous for being closed for over 10 minutes at a time while up to 4 trains go through... I was lucky - the gates were up. Moral - always take your roof!

Top off wherever possible, use car everyday so not always practicable though. Up here in the frozen north too. Been fancying Cornwall to live but watching the weather forcast every night it seems like its never stopped raining for 4 weeks. Can anyone down there confirm or give advice on the idea?

There's already too many people living down in the South, most of whom seem to have more than one car - please stay where you are. Thanks.
