I don't get to use my April '96 reg Chim very often so always have it connected up to an optimate which usually gives a green "fully charged" light within a few hours of connecting.Recently it's been taking 36hrs or so to go green and "iffy" starting.Checking battery level as i assumed was done on service was first time i realised battery box has to be removed completely after disconnection and de-rivetted to even see that all cells were dry.Have now topped it up, charged it,discharge tested it O.K.Surprised to see it's marked wk52 96.Original?Do dealers ever touch them on service?Must refit tomorrow and see if all is well,if not

Most batterys were sealed no maintainance these days I thought?. It dosent surprise me the dealer never touched it though.
You can allways refit the battery cover with self tappers.

If you do need a new battery - make sure you get a breathable one as the battery position is actually inside the cabin in reality.

Batteries are a bugger to get out - just be glad you haven't got an early 93 one, that is a nigthmare!
