As a new (6 weeks) and very proud owner of a 4.0 2000 Chim I am looking for some advice on a few stone chip marks and scratches around doors etc. These are very minor but a bit irritating. Did not notice them whaen purchasing the car From Christopher Neil, but they seem to have appeared in the last 2 weeks.
Whats the best approach here ? can I just buy some basic touch up paint ? does it have to be specialist TVR paint ? will it get worse ?
Chim is a very nice Titanium colour (silver/blue) and looks great but these little marks irritate me.
Also have a few bigger Scrapes inside the door frames, looks like something is catching but cannot work out what.
Any advice on the above would be greatfully received

your scrapes inside the door frame, might be from where the seat belt buckle has got caught when someone is shutting the door, happened on mine a few times.
Now I watch out for it and warn passengers.
Now sure about the scratches, I have bought a touch up pack from halfords, with various colours, but not tried it yet. I often use colour magic wax, which helps, but is only temporary.
Hope you enjoy the car.

Re the scrapes inside the door frames you might need to get the door hanging checked. If the hinges are not set correctly the door frame can drag across the threshold on closing.
Re touch up, when you get the paint be sure to use minimal amount - a cocktail stick delivers the right amount - then build up as necessary. Don't use a brush - it always ends up with too much.

Some touching up needed on my Chim after halloween... Damn kids had thrown eggs, now have chips in the paint. They must be hard boiling them nowadays. Got a free estimate from chips-away the other day roughly about £60ish per repair... probably wait until after winter... Thinking about the gritters and now getting a bit worried, after the egg thing...

Egg and chips? Sorry. What a bummer. How about hiding in an upstairs window next Halloween with a few dozen extra large free range and a catapult?
I was driving along last year when there was a loud thud. I'd been hit on the nearside front wing by an apple thrown by some brats in a garden. Far more likely to cause a road accident than a minor speeding offence, but harder to catch of course.
