If I hold down the door open button on my 98 (450) chimaera the door pops open, if I keep it pressed down the boot pops open.

This is great but I can not find this feature in any documentation. Do they all do this or is this a fault (good one).

Do you mean the button on the alarm fob? I also have a '98 450 and it's not the same on mine, the fob only unlocks the doors.

Someone here had modified their alarm system to also unlock their boot but I thought that they'd changed the alarm system (from the Meta system originally installed) and used a different fob.

Not the fob button, wing mirror button.

will try this on my 97 chimp.

Sounds better than opening door, fiddling with the key, turning on ignition then fumbling blindly under the dash for the release button.

I always manage to forget to pop the boot to fill up the tank until AFTER I've removed the ign key. This would save a forgetful old git a lot of hassle !!

Just tried this in the car park at work, and sadly does not work on mine.

I'd happily have this as a mod though.

Never heard of that feature ... probably means something is overheating ... but it's a nice idea for a modwise type kit.

Funny you should say that I'm in the process of fitting a prototype kit from Mod-wise at the moment, I'll report back on how I get on. Rich...

Nope - pressed button for about 30 seconds and......now't. - even tried passenger side just in case.

Bl**dy good idea though !! Would be well up for a reasonably priced kit that did this.

Edited coz I can't spell

This is an "extra" feature installed by Fernhurst (I think it's them anyway)

I hope it only works when the doors are unlocked

The car was from Fernhurst so this seems to be the source of the feature. And yes it only works when the car is unlocked.

Damn useful nonetheless.

How much is the modwise kit likely to cost?

On a tangent to this, you know the emergency door release lever in the boot? It's just occured to me, how do you access this with the doors closed and ignition off????????

Like the idea of the door button thingy, if it doesn't cost a packet
