Hello chaps

Just bought a 1993 4.3 Chimaera with FTVRSH etc etc and very nice (and quick) it is too.

Just noticed yesterday that when I put my foot on the clutch, and with very little pressure, a whining, buzzing noise comes from the gearbox. The noise stops immediately when the clutch is released.

My previous experience suggests that this a worn clutch release bearing. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this, and whether it is a an expensive thing to fix (I expect it is!!).

MTIA and hope to see you all out on the open road.

Ed

PS Its a bit quicker than my S2.......

Sounds just like the thrust bearing to me too... you'll have the Rover SD1 Gearbox I guess (like my 93 4l) so I would imagine a replacement wouldn't be an issue price or part-wise.. just book it in for a clutch change at the same time

Cheers
Matt.

V8S was written off by the dealer's mechanic on the way back from its MOT on the day I was due to pick it up!!!!!!

Luckily I had only paid a deposit, which I got back.

Still, probably for the best 'cos I've got a Chimaera now....

Cheers

Never mind, at least you didn't have time to get used to the best TVR made, so you don't know what you're missing

Good luck with the Chim
